Pamela Klainer Obituary
Rochester - It is with great sadness that the family of Dr. Pamela York Klainer announces her passing on September 14th, 2019, at the age of 74 years. Pam will be lovingly remembered by her children, Sara E Klainer (husband Ben Stolt) and Matthew A Klainer (wife Amy), two adoring grandchildren, her sisters Linda Janesko (husband Ron) and Wendy Witterschein (husband George). Pam was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Jeremy Klainer.
A native of Kearny, NJ, Pam attended The College of St. Elizabeth, followed by a stint in rural Panama with the Peace Corps. Pam moved to Washington, DC where she met her husband, before settling in Rochester, NY where she got a Doctorate of Education from the University of Rochester and lived for more than 30 years. Pam spent the last ten years living in Seattle, enjoying time with her children and grandchildren.
Pam will be remembered as an adventurous spirit, lifelong philanthropist, entrepreneur, author, blogger and loving friend, mother, and grandmother. From her first visit to Panama in the 1960s, Pam built lifelong friendships with her 'family of the heart,' returning to Pamana regularly with friends and family. In Rochester, Pam co-founded Professional Planning Associates with her late husband Jeremy A Klainer. Pam cared deeply about philanthropy, establishing the Dr. Jeremy A. Klainer Entrepreneurial Scholarship Fund at the University of Rochester School of Nursing to support innovation nursing, and helped found the Knox Clinic, providing essential medical care to the uninsured of midcoast Maine. Pam is also the author of two books and published more than 10,000 blog entries at https://pklainer.com/category/blog/. Most recently, Pam relished the role of doting Grammie Pammie, hosting sleepovers and countless hours of Legos, puzzles, and craft projects with her two young grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Pam was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery in Rochester New York. In lieu of flowers or other memorial gifts, contributions may be made to the Knox Clinic - https://www.knoxclinic.org.
