Peggy Wegman Obituary
Canandaigua - Peggy was born July 17, 1928, joined the Lord on August 28th. Her final days were filled with prayer and tenderness from her family and caregivers.
The oldest child of Dr. John and Margot Finigan, they predeceased her along with her brother, Joe and her sisters, Elizabeth and Bridget. She was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament School, Our Lady of Mercy High School, and attended Trinity College in Washington until her marriage to F. Leslie Dollinger. She married Robert Wegman in 1977 and he predeceased her in 2006. She was also predeceased by his daughter, Gail Tobin.
She is survived by her children, John (Lori) and Richard (Marilyn) Dollinger, Lelia Pappas, Paula Dolan (Rob), David (Ellen), Douglas, Julia and Andrew Dollinger. She is also survived by her siblings, Dr. Michael Finigan, Kate Simpson and Ellie Fralick (Jim). Also surviving her are Daniel Wegman (Paula), Joan Goldberg (Gary), Marie Kenton (Charlie), Pat Tobin and their families. She was Grandma Peggy to her nineteen grandchildren, Aimee Sawyer (Scott), Kathryn Pyle, Michael Dollinger (Meg), Maureen O'Connor (James), Tim Dollinger (Liz), Christopher Pappas, Margot Mullens (Charles), Nicole Stewart (Paul), Garrett Pappas (Daria), Kevin, Bill and Elizabeth Dolan, Peter Dollinger (Heather), Catherine Dollinger (Kyle Terrell), Mathew Chouinard, Peter Groh (Andrea), Michael Groh (Megan), Jennifer Groh, and Drew Dollinger. She was very proud of her seventeen great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Peggy was a devout Catholic and a regular parishioner at Blessed Sacrament, St. Thomas More and St. Januarius. She was a strong supporter of Catholic education. Peggy was a member of the United Way of Greater Rochester's Tocqueville Society, served on the Campaign Cabinet, and will be remembered as a community champion. She was a longtime member of the Junior League, the Chatterbox Club and the Susan B. Anthony Club. Prior to her marriage to Bob, she was a successful Real Estate broker for ten years.
Friends may call Friday, September 6 from 3-7 PM at the funeral home (2305 Monroe Ave.). A Celebration of Her Life and Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, September 7, 10 AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 534 Oxford Street. Dear Richard, Marilyn and family,
I have many fine memories driving Mr Wegman and Peggy. So many fun stories of how she would Finigan a donation out of Robert. The kindest woman. We are sad that we will not make the celebration of her life. Our comfort and and thoughts are with the entire Dollinger/Wegman families. I can see Peggy and Robert dancing among the stars!

Mrs. Wegman was one of the most beautiful woman I ever had the pleasure of knowing. She had an amazing spirit and beautiful soul. I always looked forward to helping her plan her menus for her next get together. She was such a loving and caring person who was always smiling and a joy to be around.
