On July 11, 1965, Richard married Susan M. Parry and had two children, Patricia M. Borges-Madden and Richard A. Madden. He had two daughters-in law Donna Borges-Madden and Kelly Madden. He was the proud Grandfather of Macy Madden, Tayler Peters (Joshua), Sydney Madden, Dominic Borges-Madden, Anthony Borges-Madden and Noah Borges-Madden. He was excited to be expecting his first great-grandchild in February 2019. He was predeceased in death by his parents, his brother, James Madden, a nephew, Kenneth Madden, and sister-in-law, Margaret Parry, and many other relatives. Richard was also predeceased by his beloved cat, Ziggy.

Richard enjoyed his work in pharmacy and wrote computer programs for pharmacy. He was an avid reader including historical novels and Irish lore. Richard had fond memories of his travels that included Ireland, the Caribbean and Alaska. Richard also enjoyed spending time in nature, sailing and listening to music. He especially loved cooking and baking bread. He was known throughout the family for saving leftover bread in his shirt pocket. One of his pet projects was working on the genealogy of the family. He was entertained greatly by the fact that his children and many of his grandchildren shared his dry wit and sense of humor. Richard will be missed by all.
