Brockport: (formerly of Irondequoit) Suddenly on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at age 49. Rich was preceded in death by his mom; Dolores Schakow. Rich is survived by his dad, George Schakow; his loving companion, Wendy Denning; brother, Thomas Schakow; sisters, Denise (Jim) Dill, Kyle Smith (Richard Starwald), Sherry Schakow; nieces and nephews, James, Robert, Caitlyn and Michael Dill, Samantha and Travis Smith, Richard and Patrick Schakow; aunt, Mary Travis; Wendy's family (mom, Diane Galbrait; children, Michael (Jessica) and Matthew (Jessica) Denning; grandchildren, Julia, Parker and Ryleigh Denning); as well as many dear friends. Rich was a machinist by trade. He had a zest for life and lived his life to the fullest. Rich loved riding his motorcycles and time spent at the family cottage. Rich will be remembered for his heart warming nature. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family; his memory will remain in our hearts forever.

Rich's family will receive friends Tuesday, August 23, 1-4 and 6-8PM at New Comer Family Funeral Home, 6 Empire Blvd. Friends are invited to meet the family Wednesday at 11AM at the funeral home for his service. For those wishing, please consider honoring Rich with a donation to your favorite charity.
