Dear Mrs. Scarlata & Family,
Roy and I were so sorry to hear of Sam's passing. He was a wonderful friend and one of our favorite work man. 32 years ago Sam laid all the tile in our new underground house and built the stone wall around the fireplace. We spent a lot of time together. He brought me a fig tree from Sicily. Those were the best figs in the world. Everyone lined up to get their share. I still have the tree. I'll never forget when I went to the bank to get over $1,000 in cash to pay him for one of his jobs. The bank thought I was leaving Roy and running away. I was on pins and needles all the way home because I thought I would be robbed for sure!! We laughed about that for years. We were so happy for him when he started his business. I know he always wanted to change my countertops to granite. We were so happy that we saw him last year at the store. He was a generous, kind, creative man. We'll always treasure all the work he did for us. He was truly an artist and gifted craftman. My father was from Italy also so they would often trade stories about the old country.
I'm sorry we will not be able to attend the wake today. He lived a wonderful live and touched many people in his lifetime. His time was too short on this earth. We're thrilled that the business was so successful. He earned it after all those years of working on his knees. May God Bless you and your family. We were at the store recently and knew he was ill. We'll miss him.
Love and Peace Always,
Arlene and Roy Cluff
