Sheila Foo Obituary

Foo, Sheila

Rochester: Sheila died peacefully on November 17, 2014 with her family by her side. She was born November 24, 1923 in Scotland to Elizabeth and Andrew Fraser.

A World War II veteran, Sheila served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) of the British Army from 1941 until 1946, achieving the rank of sergeant.

She and her husband, Sammy, raised three sons in Ellenville, NY. After her husband's death in 1972, she earned an A.A. degree at Sullivan County Community College.

In 2000, she retired as supervisor of the Home Energy Assistance Program for Ulster County. In 1999, she was honored by then-Governor Pataki as Ulster County's Mature Worker of the Year.

She was a loving wife, mother and she delighted in being a grandmother. She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Nancy), Stan (Sally) and Elliot (Margaret), as well as her six granddaughters and family in Scotland.

My condolences to Elliot, Margaret, the girls, and the rest of the family. Although Sheila led a long and full life it is nonetheless very sad to see her go. My thoughts and prayers are with the Foo family.
