Sheldon Phillips Obituary

Phillips, Sheldon

Brighton: Passed away on January 8, 2013, 11 days shy of his 88th birthday. Predeceased by parents, Nathan & Sonia Phillips. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Jean Zelomek; devoted daughters, Susan (David) Gorin, Sherry (Richard Margolis) Phillips, Arline (Sebastiano) Conigliaro & Lisa Phillips; beloved grandchildren, Jesse & Daniel Gorin and Samuel & Claudine Margolis; sister, Esther Apple; three nieces & three nephews.

Sheldon had an illustrious career in scientific photography at the Eastman Kodak Co. He also had a long career of volunteerism at organizations including the Knights of Pythias, Hillside Children's Center, Meals on Wheels and the Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, FL. He will be missed for his warm smile and delicious baked goods.

Funeral Services will be held on FRIDAY at 11 AM in the Benjamin Goldstein Chapel of Temple B'rith Kodesh (2131 Elmwood Ave). Interment, White Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 225 Barrington St. on FRIDAY 3-5 PM, SATURDAY 7-9 PM & SUNDAY 1-4 PM. Donations may be made to the Aaron Braveman Educational Fund at Temple B'rith Kodesh. June and I were very sad to hear. We will miss Shel. He was one of the kindest spirits. Always positive. Often humorous. A sparkle in his eye. And my god could he bake. But consistent with above I think he enjoyed sharing the baked goods as much as the baking

Sad to hear of Shel's passing, Jean. Have not seen him in years, but we bowled together for several years and once camped at the same time in Myrtle Beach at the Arrowhead Campground. Fine fellow.
