Brent Montgomery Babbitt
May 22, 1967 - October 5, 2023
Brent Montgomery Babbitt, a truly loved soul and exceptional man, died unexpectedly at his home on October 5 in Albany, Oregon at the age of 56.
He is preceded in death by his father Horace Joseph "Babe" Babbitt, his mother Donna Bailey Babbitt and his brothers Arlen Ray Babbitt and Arnold Phillip Babbitt.
Brent was the youngest of 8 children. He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa of Oregon; daughters Taylor of Nevada; and Alexandria of Oregon; grandson Wesson of Nevada: brothers, Jim (Diane) Babbitt and Bryan Babbitt of Oregon; Suzanne (John) Van Zanten of Colorado; Carla (Gary) Stephenson of Wyoming; Jan (Don Mason) Babbitt of Oregon; and numerous beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.
Brent was born in Roseburg, Oregon on May 22, 1967. He graduated from Crescent Valley High School in Corvallis, Oregon, where he met his wife of 32 years. He played baseball for the Raiders and American Legion Baseball for the Corvallis Richey's Market team. He attended Oregon State University for 3 years. In 1994, he began working as an apprentice electrician for Solid Ground Electric, graduated from Central Electric Training Center, and worked for Benton Electric until his death. He was a member of IBEW 280 in Tangent, Oregon.
He enjoyed all manner of outdoor activities, especially golfing, fishing, hunting, and camping. Most of all, he loved his family. He loved cooking with his daughters, going on adventures to explore new places, listening to music, and family game/ movie nights. He never knew a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with anyone on any topic and never run out of conversation or wisdom. No matter what he had going on, he always made time to help others. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed.
We will celebrate Brent's life at Willamette Community Church, on Saturday October 21st at 1230, located at 420 Third Ave, SE, Albany, OR. Cards and/or donations can be sent to Fisher Funeral Home, 306 SW Washington St, Albany, OR. In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing the Brent Montgomery Babbitt Memorial Fund through Corvallis Public Schools Foundation to be given to a graduate of Crescent Valley High School and is pursuing a career in the trades.
