Francine Counihan Obituary

Francine Patricia Counihan

March 9, 1936 - August 1, 2024

SEQUIM, WA - Frances Patricia Counihan (Daly,) passed away August 1, 2024, in Sequim, WA, at the age of 88.

Frances was born March 9, 1936, to Patrick and Anne Daly in the family home in Manhattan, NY. She was the youngest of 12 children, fondly known as The Daly Dozen.

Frances married her high school sweetheart, James Counihan, in 1956, and was a loving mother to three children.

A career in administration led her through a wonderful journey as secretary to five head football coaches at Oregon State University until her retirement in 2001. There she made many friendships to players and coaches alike, and was an avid fan and surrogate mom to many.

Frances is survived by her husband, Jim (married 67 years); son, James of Port Angeles, WA; daughter, Kathleen of Sequim, WA; and sister, Theresa O'Doherty. Frances is preceded in death by her parents; ten siblings; and her first born son, James, who died in infancy.

A beautiful mother, a beautiful wife, a beautiful life. Frances will be missed, but her bright light and gentle soul will be celebrated and remembered always.
