Jim Mohr
Jim Mohr, aged 80, passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness on 8/8/2024.
Born in 1943 in Roseburg, OR, to parents June and Alwin Mohr, Jim grew up in the small town of Glendale, OR, alongside his older brother Bill. He had fond memories of his childhood, filled with adventures of roaming around town and the countryside with his dog Skippy. By age 12, Jim was delivering newspapers on his bicycle and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 16. When he was 13 years old, his cousin playfully put a cap gun close to Jim's left ear and pulled the trigger which sent a spark into his ear. This incident resulted in high-frequency hearing loss and persistent ringing in Jim's ears, conditions that stayed with him for the rest of his life. However, it did not hold him back from leading a full life.
In high school, Jim participated in football, wrestling and track (javelin and shot put.) After high school he enrolled in the Fish and Wildlife program at OSU, where he studied until 1966. Jim entered the US Coast Guard in April 1966, serving 4 years active duty followed by 26 years active reserve, and 7 years inactive reserve. Jim retired as a Master Chlef Hospital Corpsman. After hls 4 years active duty, he moved to the Corvallis area and attended the new 2 year LBCC mrrsing program, eventually becoming a licensed Registered Nurse (RN).
Jim married Patricia Ross in Portland in June 1966. They had 3 children together: Craig and twins Martin and Marianne. The marriage ended in June 1988, with Jim being awarded custody of the children. In late December 1988, he was introduced to Susan Allen, also a custodial parent of 3 children: Robert, and twins Melinda and Deborah. After 2 ½ years of dating and enjoying being part of the Corvallis Clinic co-ed softball team and bicycle club, they decided to marry. Jim worked as a registered nurse in the allergy department of the Corvallis Clinic, while Susan worked in the Clinic's laboratory.
After retirement, Jim found joy in gardening, traveling and spending time with family, neighbors, and church friends. He especially cherished moments spent around a table with delicious food and good company.
Jim will be deeply missed. He was a good man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Susan; their combined 6 children, 5 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the First Christian Church, 602 SW Madison Ave., Corvallis, OR 97333. Donations in his memory can be made to the First Christian Church.

Jim was my allergy nurse for several years. I always appreciated his competence, kindness and calm demeanor. Injections were mostly painless, and I feel that was because I was at ease and never stressed about being there because of the traits I listed. My condolences to all of his loved ones.

I went through a 5-year allergy immunotherapy "program" at the clinic starting in late 2000, where I would see Jim several times a week to administer my injections. We shared some laughs, and he often praised me for not skipping any of my allergy injection appointments! I didn't miss any, the 5-year program helped me then and still, and Jim was the only reason I didn't dread going. I appreciated Jim being there for me.
