Angie Beth Culver

Angie Beth Culver, 92, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021. She was born July 2, 1929 to John Jay Peel and Anna Lucille Kelsoe Peel in Denton, TX where she lived her entire lifetime. She graduated from Denton High School in 1946.

On December 19, 1947 she married Herbert Ray (H R) Culver who preceded her in death on October 23, 1981. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church but also attended Trinity United Methodist Church and Blue Mound Methodist Church.

Angie was always active in various activities that her children were involved in. She was a Girl Scout leader for her three daughters and also worked in Boy Scouts for her son. She was involved in PTA at Stonewall Jackson Elementary and also in many church activities as well as being a charter member of Triangle Squares square dance club.

In the mid 80's she went to work for DISD in food service until 1999 when she retired. After retirement she remained active, attending activities her grandchildren were involved in and volunteering. Until this past year she volunteered at the Denton State Supported Living Center, ushered at the Denton Community Theater, visited her friends in nursing homes, folded church bulletins, read to children through the Rockin' Readers Program at Ginnings Elementary and also attended activities her great-grandchildren were involved in. She was an avid Skip-Bo, Rummy and 42 player, spending hours playing with friends and family, usually winning, and never being sorry that she won! She was the best NaNa, Mimi and Geemaw to all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include daughters Liz Beaty (Robert) of College Station, Carol Hogan (Rick) and Cheryl Culver of Denton, son Ray Culver (Debbie) of Marshfield, MO, 7 grandchildren - Robert Beaty, Jennifer Beaty, David Wisniewski, Will Nixon, Kevin Crumpton, Angela Randles and Alicia Lyon, 5 great-grandchildren Weston Lyon, Presleigh Lyon, Sean Randles, Austin Randles and Mira Wisniewski and brother, Rev. John Peel of Denton. Other survivors include many nieces, nephews and friends and also her best friend and adventure partner Alice Wittmis. Preceding her in death was her husband, parents, sisters Nancy Carroll, Katherine McGalliard and Louise Owens and grandson James Nixon.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 30 from 3-5 P M. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 31 at 2 P M. Both will be at Asbury United Methodist Church, 117 W Hercules Ln in Denton.
