Barbara Dickson Obituary

Barbara Ann Dickson (Bihr)

Barbara Ann Dickson (Bihr) was the matriarch of the family; she was a loving and devoted mom, wife, G-Mom, aunt, sister, and friend. Barbara was reunited in Heaven with her husband, the love of her life, on April 26, 2022, at the age of 89.

Barbara was born to Merrill and Mattie Bihr on June 1, 1932, in Washington, Missouri. Barbara married Orville Henry "Lardy" Unnerstall in Ft. Bragg where they began their military career, and had two children David Anthony and Sue Ann. Barbara was the perfect military wife always willing to pack up and move to different bases as her husband excelled in his military career becoming a helicopter pilot. After his untimely death serving in the military, Barbara settled in Dallas, Texas to raise her two young children.

Sports was something Barbara loved to watch, especially watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Dallas Mavericks with her family; she also enjoyed watching golf for fun. She had many other hobbies including bridge and swimming and laying in the sun with her grandchildren; in her older years she loved to play cards and eat lunch with her daughter. Barbara will especially be remembered for her impeccable fashion sense, the glass of wine she drank at 5 o'clock on the dot, and the one dirty joke she told anyone who would listen. Most importantly, she was an example to all who knew her how to love well and laugh often.

Barbara was preceded in death by the love of her life, Lardy, her parents Merrill and Mattie "Nana" Bihr, her siblings Merrill Burdette, John Howard, Martha Ann, Merrill Emmett, Jesse Marie, James Edward, Mary Louise, Helen Jean, and Charles Gale. She is survived by her son David (Rhonda) Unnerstall, Sue (Joe Paul) Gallo, her grandchildren Travis (Julie) Gallo, Mattie (Kyle) Barry, Loren Gallo, Kevin (Linsey) Unnerstall, greatgrandchildren Sophia and Henry Gallo, and bonus daughter Mary Mabry and her daughter Madison Mabry, plus her many nieces and nephews.
