Brenda Jo Adams Minnis, 76 of Denton, Texas entered her eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Monday, December 30, 2024.
Brenda was born in Victoria, Texas on November 5, 1948, to Van Vincent Adams and Allison Marie Hammond Adams as the 2nd of 7 children.
She moved to Denton to attend college at TWU with a major in biology. She worked as a student employee in a research lab caring for spyder monkeys. Later attending UNT to obtain her Masters degree in education. While living in Denton she became a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she met and fell in love with her husband of 55 years, Robert "Steve" Minnis.
Married December 19, 1969 Brenda and Steve built their home together in Denton where they raised three children. Brenda was active in her grandkids schools by being PTA president for many years, as well as an active parent member at Liz Gallego School of Dance for her daughter. As a girl scout her entire life, she became the trooper leader for Troop 31 for her daughter. She went on to teach defensive driving for more then 20 years with Sears Defensive Driving.
Known not only as mom to her children, but to many of their friends, she is also Nana to her 8 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Van and Allison, sister Janice Adams Smith, and brother Marshall Adams. She is survived by her brothers Rob, Lynn, Durwood, and Andrew.
Nana is survived by her loving husband Robert Steven Minnis of Denton, daughter Patricia Kay Minnis, sons Lee Warren Minnis and Robert Vincent Minnis.
She is also survived by grandchildren Kyra Pedroche (Javier), Tyler Minnis, Kynzie Minnis, Kygan Minnis, Trenton Minnis (Bailey), Cody Minnis (Maggie), Elora Apple and Alexa Minnis.
She is survived by great grandchildren Nikolas Pedroche, Atlas Pedroche, Griffin Pedroche, Dean Minnis, Piper Minnis, Kinley Hall and Adeline Apple.
Her family is forever grateful for the loving caregivers from Unlimited Care who helped to care for mom and assisted her husband in her final care, Cassandra and Amerra. Her final days were made comfortable, and her passing peaceful, with the help of Concho Hearts Hospice with nurse Michelle McDonald, who served not only as her nurse but as a longtime family friend.
A visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Mulkey Bowles Montgomery funeral home, 705 N Locust St, Denton, TX 76205.
Funeral services will be held on Monday January 6, 2025, 10:30 am, at Thousand Hills Church 8380 S Stemmons, Hickory Creek, TX 75065. Pastor Chris Medley officiating.
