Homer Lee Belcher, Sr.

Homer Lee Belcher, Sr., 83, of Denton, Texas, passed away at his home Tuesday, June 11, 2019. He was born in Haskell County, Texas to Irey Lee and Myrtle Mae (Harmon) Belcher on January 04, 1936.

He was raised in Munday, Texas and attended school there. He married Margaret Etta Faulkenberry in Dallas, Texas on April 03, 1958 and they had two sons, Steven and Homer. Homer was a member of Full Gospel Church in Denton and worked for Farmer Brothers Coffee and Radiance Vitamins prior to retirement as a great salesman and as Director of sales.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Irey and Mrytle Belcher and his siblings, Betty Miller, Billie Harlon, Wayne Belcher and Durwood Belcher.

Homer is survived by his wife of 61 years, Margaret, sons, Steven Douglas Belcher and wife, Sharla of North Richland Hills, Texas and Homer Lee Belcher, Jr. and wife, Sharon of Kingston, Oklahoma, six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will accept friends Thursday, June 13, 2019 from 6-8:00 P.M. at DeBerry Funeral Directors. Funeral Services will be held Friday, June 14, 2019 at Highland Baptist Church at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Richard Tosh officiating. Interment will immediately follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Homer L. Belcher III, Devin Pipes, Tony Nguyen, Eddie Miller, Lynn Garrison, Tom Richeson, Clayton Newell and Tom Pritle.

I will always be Blessed knowing Homer who inspired me with his singing and letting his life shine for God. He walked in faith with God and Blessed all of us at Wylie Opry and Churches i.e. Whiterock Baptist Church in Anna. It did not matter if he had a large group or small group, He still gave his all. Now Heaven is Blessed as he joins God's Choir and now sees the one he was singing about! We are selfish and hate to see our friends go, and We celebrate his journey home were we all long to be. Deepest Sympathies to all the family until we get to take the journey too.

Homer Sr. You have been a shining light while with us here on earth, a fine example how a Child of God should live. You leave behind a legacy that will continue through your wife, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and even those lives youve crossed paths with through your ministry of song and your everyday living. To the family- cherish these memories. In my opinion, grief is a process that never really goes away. It grows and changes. It can be like your angel still trying to show you the way. Moments may flood you at times with tears of sadness as well as tears of joy. Use your experiences as it may be a little nudge to guide you to someone else in need of a Christian example like he was. Ive already witnessed many acts of kindness from several members in your family. He has taught you well and just needs you to continue with a light of the world that shines so bright.
