Jason Scott Obituary

Jason Dwayne Scott

Jason, 33, left this world to join a mass of nebulae among the stars on May 27, 2021. Fiercely intelligent and a witty conversationalist, he loved space and science with an ongoing curiosity and a sense of humor. He adored movies, music, art, delicious food, cats, and a beautiful night sky to see all in our galaxy.

Deeply philosophical and realistic, he valued openness and honesty in all that he experienced, saying "mistakes have made me who I am, and I know exactly who that is. I regret nothing, and there is a victory in that, regardless of what's brought me here." Born in Oxford, Ohio on September 15, 1987, he arrived in Denton recently to work for Our Daily Bread and Statewide Appeals. Jason was kind, considerate, respectful, and always helped people. He honored others at the end by being an organ, eye, and tissue donor and being a hero for healing and saving countless lives. His favorite doctor, Peter Capaldi, from his esteemed British show, Dr. Who said it best for Jason. "Never be cruel. Never be cowardly. Hate is always foolish. Love is always wise. Always try to be nice, but never fail to be kind."

Survived by his girlfriend who he loved, Beverly Benbow of Denton, Texas, I want to say "I love you. You always wanted to do and be better in your life. I am proud of you." He is also survived by his cherished mother, Sherry Scott of Hamilton, Ohio, who said, "he was greatly loved and deeply missed.", and his beloved sister, Ashley Scott of Lexington, Kentucky who loves and misses her big brother.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Jason is on Saturday, June 26, 3 to 5 PM at Layalina Restaurant 222 West Hickory Street, Suite 104, Denton. RSVP to Beverly Benbow at [email protected] to attend. Space is limited. Instead of flowers or gifts, Beverly would humbly appreciate any assistance with the gathering expenses. Please email me above. Or, send a memorial donation in Jason's name to Our Daily Bread or Denton Animal Shelter and let Beverly know of your donation.
