Joseph Jacques Roger Forgue
Joseph Jacques Roger Forgue, 75, passed away peacefully at his home on January 27th, 2018-surrounded by his loved ones. Joe was an incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother uncle and friend.
Joe was born on December 31st, 1942 on the Forgue farm, just 5 miles south of Jackman, Maine. He was the son of William and Marie-Ange Forgue. He graduated in 1961 at Jackman High School and was the first class to hold their graduation at the new school now named Forest Hills.
Joe began serving our country in the United States Air Force in 1962. He began his service with 3 years in England and started out in the motor pool. He later was in communications until he went into healthcare and became a medic. This was the most rewarding to him and was proud to fly Air Vac, transporting and taking care of patients. He spent over 21 years in the air force and was proud of his country.
After retiring in Las Vegas, Joe spent many years in pest control. He had a passion for learning and was always either taking college courses or reading or finding a class to take on line. After moving to Mississippi, Joe became a long haul truck driver. He loved to travel and be on the road so this was his happy place. However, he was probably the happiest during football season! Joe was a very active person and loved being outdoors. He would do anything not only for his family and friends, but his neighbors and people he did not even know.
He married Nelda Craig on August 4th, 1967 and became an instant father of 3. Cindi, Joey and Monica were never step children to him, he treated them as his own. He then became father to Kellie and Melanie and in 2002 adopted Blake. Joe and Nelda just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 4th, 2017. He was blessed with not only 6 kids, but 12 grandkids, 23 great grandkids and 1 great, great grandchild.
Joe is survived by his wife Nelda, children Joey, Monica (Dean), Kellie, Melanie (Scott) and Blake. He is also survived by his brothers Wilfred (Sue) and Roland (Phyllis), and his sisters Angeline, Ange-Aimee (John), Theresa (Bill), Nancy (Francis), Juliette and Cecile (Carl); also numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father William, mother Marie-Ange, brothers Mike and Gerard, sister Lorraine and daughter Cindi.
It was Joe's wishes to be cremated and his ashes buried at the Craig cemetery in Pineville, Louisiana. Services, burial of ashes and celebration of life will be on March 17th, 2018.
