Karen Connor Obituary

Karen Adams Connor

Karen Adams Connor, age 84 of McKinney, Texas, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Wright and Ruth Adams; and her daughter, Christine Connor. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Frank F. Connor; daughter Dale Lopez; son-in-law Martin Lopez; granddaughter Erika Lopez; brother Judson Adams; and many nieces and nephews.

Born in Chicago, IL, she and Frank lived in Chicago; Baton Rouge, LA; Denton, TX; and finally McKinney. In Chicago, she was a preschool teacher prior to having children of her own. Karen was dubbed “Mr. Rogers in the female form by her daughter Dale, as her love and support of young children was always evident - she made young children feel special. She was a tireless volunteer; helping with Head Start, Girl Scouts, her children's schools, HandiHop of Denton, and Denton Friends of the Family.

A highlight for Karen was her time spent with family and friends at her beloved Okaiyoka - a summer lake house community in Michigan, where she met Frank. Being true to her volunteerism, she donated her body to science; no formal service will be held. In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Cure Alzheimer's Fund at https://curealz.org/giving/donate.

Goodbye my darling. You were the best wife in the world, and I hope you knew how much I loved you. I know you would like me to continue on, and I will try, but it will be very difficult. I do love you so. Frank

Frank and Dale, I am so very sorry to read of Karen's passing. I want you to know how greatly I admired Karen's friendship during out times together as 'math wives'. She was always gracious and kind to me and my girls. Please know she was known as a genuine, loving and caring person to all. I treasure her memory.
