Kevin Cockerline Obituary

Kevin Wesley Cockerline

Kevin Wesley Cockerline, 60, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at his home.

Visitation: 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2022 with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. in White's Chapel of Memories, 130 Houston Ave., Weatherford.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 12, 2022 in White's Chapel of Memories.

Kevin was born July 31, 1961 in Michigan, son of Alan W. and Ann Evans Cockerline. He graduated from Texas A & M in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Kevin was employed for 31 years at Standard Meats/Tyson Foods as a National Account Sales Director, followed by five years as National Account Sales Director at Five Star Custom Foods, retiring in 2019.

Kevin loved his time on his ranch and it was a true passion for him. He loved the horses and he eventually turned to roping and raising cattle. Kevin had an entrepreneur spirit that allowed him to build a successful cattle ranch and related businesses.

Kevin was an avid rodeo calf roping contestant, winning several belt buckles and a saddle. He built a lighted rodeo arena on the ranch so he and other cowboys could practice. So, although he was born in Michigan, he was a Texan through and through.

Kevin had a dry sense of humor and a loud, larger than life personality. He was known for his deep fried turkeys every Thanksgiving, and for his summer pool parties. Kevin was always there for his family, they were his greatest love.

We celebrate a life well lived but ended too soon.

Survivors: Wife, Luz Cockerline; daughter, Kayla Whitney Cockerline; step-daughter, Liz Gonzales of New York City; sisters, Annette Locklear and husband, Mike, of Cameron, and Mary Cockerline and Roland Picard, of Niceville, Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; and his faithful dog, Minion.

Kevin was one of my Moses Hall brothers for four years. I didn´t know he was from Michigan since he was a big Texas cowboy through and through. Condolences too all of his family and friends. You too Smitty!

I worked with Kevin for many years, first at Standard Meat/Design Foods, then later at Tyson. Kevin was always a gentleman, and a joy to be around. My prayers go out to all his family and friends. I know he will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Kevin and I became friends back in elementary school--TWU Demonstration school. We started a lawn mowing business while still in elementary school and even mowed our Kindergarten teacher's yard. Kevin and I would ride our bikes to and from school. We liked to wrestle but if I pinned him he would never give up! There are so many wonderful memories that carried all the way through High School. Prayers are with all of the family.

Hard to believe that you’re gone Kevin; you were just way too young. Although we didn’t see each other much anymore, you will always hold a special place in my heart. I met you in 1983 at Standard Meat and we became fast friends. Remember, my daughter had such a crush on you that she vowed, at the age of 6, she was going to marry you someday? She still remembers that. Such fond memories. Prayers of comfort for Luz, Liz, Kayla and the rest of your family. May they find peace in the love you shared. Rest In Peace Kevinuntil we meet again.

Kevin introduced himself at Denton High School. I was the new kid. We were 16. Now 45 years later, today I will say goodbye. We had a great journey together and thanks for letting me ride "shotgun" brother. Our stories are legend and will always bring a smile. Kevin may have met his destination now, but I know the people he touched along the way are better because of him. I know I am. Not many people are lucky enough to have a lifelong friend. Thanks for picking me, we had a good ride.

I’ve known Kevin since the early ‘90s; he was my first sales manager, but ultimately, was a good friend. He treated me with great respect and taught me so much about being a professional salesman. RIP KC.

It is hard to put this type of loss into words. Kevin was a great guy that always did his best in working with us at Pizza Hut. You could ask him to do anything and he would without complaint. I always enjoyed the A&M and Arkansas games with him, he loved his Aggies. Most importantly he loved his family more than anything! We often exchanged stories about our families. Of course he did have that dry sense of humor that at times I didn't know if he was joking or not. He is probably already asking God what he can do! God Bless your Family

My deepest sympathy to Kevin's family. After growing up in Denton with him and then working together for several years, he has been like a brother to me through thick and thin. Always generous to so many people, words cannot express what his friendship meant to me and my family over almost 54 years. He will forever be missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to your family during this difficult time, and you did leave us too soon. You were a wonderful asset when you joined the Five Star Custom Foods Family and your voice and laughter could be heard throughout the halls. You were always there to greet us with a huge smile and always willing to help. Thank you for everything you always did to help me and checking on me when I transitioned to Wichita. I am glad that we were able to see each other last July in Texas as we gathered for another Five Star Family member that also left us too soon too. I still remember the Kentucky Derby Hat Contest that you anchored 2 little horses to the top!!! I have been looking for a copy of that picture everywhere! Rest in peach sweet friend, you are missed dearly and never forgotten. ~Cherie

Kevin lived in my dorm at A&M. I remember him as a larger than life personality. Loud and wild, but at the same time highly intelligent and deliberate. We had some good times in Aggieland. I am sad to learn of his passing.

Kevin, you were such a great person to be around. One thing about you, you knew how to take care of the Customers and these days, companies have lost focus on that. I thought of you like a brother as we had an amazing mentor in our life.

Kevin, my family will miss you so much. We enjoyed spending the outdoors out on your ranch with you. Always a pleasure fishing, hunting, working cattle, etc. with you. You've always been someone I've looked up to. May you rest in peace. Love you brother.
