Mary Ellison (Stracener)

Mary Ellison (Stracener) 55 of Denton passed away peacefully Tuesday July 27, 2021 at Presbyterian Hospital. She was born in Denton, TX to George Stracener and Margaret Stracener (Gene) on September 25,1965. She was a graduate of Denton High school and Cook County College. Mary enjoyed a long career as an LVN and later in life served her community as an emergency breakdown technician. Mary enjoyed reading, playing piano, and spending time with her family.

Mary is survived by her brothers Mark Cather (spouse Marsha), Micheal Cather, David Stracener (spouse Judy), Greg Stracener (spouse April); sisters Billie Sturdivant (spouse Coy), Margaret May (spouse Jay) as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Mary was a loving mother to her son Rick Stracener (spouse Tracy) and daughter Rebecca Garrett (spouse Melvin). Mary adored her grandchildren Luke, Kayla and Hannah Stracener and Melaina Garrett.

Mary was preceded in death by her father George Stracener, mother Margaret Stracener (Gene), sisters Veronica Cather, Joyce Stracener; brothers Johnny Stracener and George Stracener Jr. (Mike) and grandson Samuel Stracener.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 31, 2021, at 10am with a viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8pm at Mulkey-Bowles-Montgomery Funeral Home. Mary will be laid to rest at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. Online condolences may be made at www.mulkeybowlesmontgomery.com
