The Stallings and Mays families were very close when Ronny was growing up. His parents and Mikes mom Bobbie and dad James spent a lot of time together. Ronny remembers going to Mike’s parents’ place every weekend where Mike’s mom would keep the yard swept for the croquet games the adults played when he was just 5 or 6 years old. Mike and Ronny were in FFA and graduated high school in Denton together. going out to the movies afterwards to celebrate. Their younger brothers hung out together as well. Ronny lost touch with Mike when he went off to Texas Tech and earned a Masters in Education, but has fond memories of their relationship and friendship. “Mike was just a really good person, like his dad. Do anything for you. A down to earth and honest friend.” Although their lives went down different paths, Ronny would call Mike whenever he needed advice on anything not horse related. They just spent an hour together talking in December at the NRHA Futurity in Oklahoma City. Mike was a very special person is so many ways and will be missed.
