I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Bentley's passing. He was a close friend of my father's, Walt Deike. They grew up together in Illinois, enlisted together in what started out as an infantry band, but which was quickly nationalized, and they served together in the South Pacific. I had some brief (too brief) communication with Mr. Bentley in 2011 or so. I would have loved to meet him and his beloved Marji. I just tried to search for him again, now in 2019, and found this very sad news. I'm too late. Sending love to his family.

Beth, I am sorry for your loss. Daddys are so special. My daddy passed away recently and I miss him as I know you miss yours. Your father lived an amazing life. Interestingly enough my father had the same birthday as your dad, just 6 years later, 04/07/1926.

I first met Dr. Bentley when he supervised TWU music education student teachers; I had about 3 or 4 of his student teachers. I later became reacquainted with Dr. Bentley and his wife Marji. I will hold fond memories of him and remember his warm smile.
