Dr. Ronnie Len Glasscock quietly and peacefully passed away in his sleep on August 17, 2024. He was a visionary leader in his community who touched the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Born on January 4th, 1947, to Alvin Leonard Glasscock and Doris Elizabeth Jones Glasscock,
Ronnie grew up in Bovina, Texas for the majority of his life. He attended West Texas State University, where he earned a Bachelor's and a Master's, both in Political Science. He was a professor of Political Science at Panamerican University. In 1972 he became Associate Dean and Registrar at Vernon Regional Jr. College. He and his family moved to Lubbock, TX in 1977 to complete his Ph.D. in Higher Education from Texas Tech University. During that time, he was the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid. Dr. Glasscock served as the Provost of the South Plains College, Lubbock Campus, 1981-1992. He served as President of North Central Texas College from 1992 to 2004. He then became an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Texas where taught graduate courses. He was duly elected to the City of Corinth City Council in 2006. He spent the remainder of his life in Corinth, TX with his wife Herlinda Glasscock.
Ronnie was an avid fisherman and loved camping. Most vacations with his children revolved around these activities. He loved learning, and when he chose to learn something new, he did it wholeheartedly. He was an accomplished musician, whose musical talents on the keyboard were enjoyed by many. He played in several bands throughout his life. He was also a talented photographer, and he knew how to make furniture. Over the past 10 years, he and his wife, Herlinda, became highly skilled leather artisans.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Danny Mac Glasscock, and his niece Melissa Catero. He is survived by Herlinda, his loving wife of 21 years, his daughter Dana and her husband Rodney Stokes of Amarillo, his son Brandon and his wife Jackie of Houston, his daughter Hope Ayala of Amarillo, stepchildren, Rene Benjamin Coronado and his wife Guinhywvyre of Grapevine, Jessica Guzman and her husband Ramon of Garland, his brother Gary Kent and his wife Harriette of Carrollton. Among his blessings he counted eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and three great grandchildren: Hayley, Krystian, and Brevyn Ayala; Calloway and his wife Tansley, Channing, and Caitlyn Cunyus; Carter and Evelyn Glasscock; Jasmine, Miguel, and Nicolas Guzman, Tulip Rashkis and Caruso Coronado; 3 great grandchildren: Kizen Tage, Crosby Carthel, and Carys Michelle Cunyus; nieces Ginger Martin and Tiffany Chambers and nephews Terry and Todd Glasscock.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, September 1, 2024, in the chapel of Mulkey-Bowles Montgomery funeral home, 705 N. Locust, Denton, Texas 76201 with a reception to follow at The GreenHouse. The family would like to thank our friend Ingrid Alina Rendon for her unwavering help and Three Oaks Hospice for their compassionate end of life care.
