Austin Ayers Obituary

Austin Freeman Ayers 17, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2008, due to injuries sustained during a long-boarding accident. He was born September 15, 1991, in Wheat Ridge, CO, and had lived in the Arvada area since age 2. Survivors are his parents, Munsey and Rebecca Ayers; a brother, Joel; a sister, Haley; paternal grandparents, Munsey and Mary Jo Ayers of New Boston, TX; maternal grandmother, Nancy Wallace of Denver; maternal grandfather, Gale Wallace, and his spouse, Joyce, of Silver Spring, MD; aunts, Laura Ayers of Minneapolis, MN, Cindy Edwards of Kansas City, KS, and Kelli Wallace of Denver; an uncle, Ruel Ayers of Denver; and numerous other relatives and friends. A nonconformist, Austin was fiercely independent and had a strong sense of social justice. He was an intelligent, inquisitive, and creative individual as well as a natural conversationalist with an innate ability to connect with others. He was a gifted baseball player who gradually replaced that passion with playing acoustic and electric guitar. Austin loved music and attending concerts with his dad. Austin was an enthusiastic learner in his junior year at the Bridge School in Boulder. Beautiful, charismatic, and full of potential, he was entering a period of his life in which he was demonstrating responsibility and maturity. His passing is a loss beyond measure for his family and many others whose lives he touched during his short time on earth. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, at the Arvada United Methodist Church, 6750 Carr St., followed by a reception at The Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made (in honor of Austin Ayers) to The Bridge School, 6717 S. Boulder Rd., Boulder, CO 80303, or to Urban Peak, 730 21st St., Denver CO 80205.

It’s been over 12 years and somehow your name still pops up in my head out of random. You were my best friend back in Hackberry Hill Elementary. Although I have very faint memories of us, your smile will be something I will rememeber. You gave such a positive energy whenever you came around. Even though it’s been 12 years, I’d still think of you every so often and I first thing I would see is your beautiful smile. So long my friend.

“It’s been a long day without you my friend, and I’ll tell you all about it when I see you again.”

austin was the best friend i have ever had. he was so caring and selfless. to know what it's like to miss the sound of hearing his heart beat, and the way he smelled when he would walk into school first thing in the morning. i know what its like to miss having his arms around me, to have him encouraging me even when he himself needed encouraging. i know what its like to miss hearing all the amazing things he thought about on a daily basis. i know what its like to miss the only person who ever meant anything to me in this world. i know how it is to feel like i am not going to make it from one day to the next without knowing that he is somewhere in the world. as soon as i met austin my life started running. i wish i could be with him, i love him so much. Austin was the most special person in the world to me. my heart goes out to all his family. i am so sorry this happened.

I barely knew Austin having seen him from a distance at birthday parties and other events of Haley's. Yet my heart goes out to him and his friends. However my heart aches and pains for his family who have to live every day knowing he passed with so much potential. My prayers and the prayers of many others go out to them. They all have so much more life in them and may they live it knowing that he is in surly in the hands of God and in a better place.

Austin, even as a kid was a true sweetheart, I can recall countless times that to this day I can see perfectly from our days back when we were little kids, where he would constantly have the group laughing,(Joel, Hayley, Kelsey, Kevin, Lora, and I.) I wish I could have known Austin as a teen, I'm sure he would have be just amazing as the day i met him. I'm terribly sorry for your loss. God bless you all.

Dear Becky, Munci, Hailey and Joel,

Austin was a joy to be with even if he pushed the envelope to the end. The anguish you must feel at his loss at times may feel unbearable. I hope you will let those who care for you and Austin share your burden. I regret that that I cannot be with you tomorrow for his memorial. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Michael
