Bert Wiener Obituary

Bert Lawrence Wiener died on December 24, 2007, at home in Denver after a valiant battle with leukemia. He was 56. He is survived by his devoted sister, Janet Teman, and by a large number of loving relatives and loyal friends. The son of the late Frieda and Benjamin Wiener, Bert was born in Passaic, NJ, and grew up in Charlotte, NC. Bert was the founder and first chairman of the Libertarian Party of NC. Bert attended Colorado State University, and worked for many years in mainframe computer operations. Bert displayed a passionate curiosity about the world, and a razor wit. He was a student of history, science and politics and shared his knowledge freely. He had the gift of gab and could talk frankly with anyone on any topic. "Bert will tell you how it is whether you like it or not." He was a gourmand, voracious reader, a film buff, a music lover, a blogger, philosopher, a friend and equal to small kids and dogs, and he loved living at the doorstep to the Rocky Mountains. Donations in Bert's memory may be made to the Heifer International Fund, 1 World Ave., Little Rock, AR 72202 (http://www.heifer.org/peace) or to the organization of your choice.

Like the winter, the coldness of your absence is sinking in. It's good to hear your voice still alive on your answering machine. Still hard to believe that you are gone.
Love,
Cousin Joe

Bert will be missed by all of his wonderful friends but especially by his loving, devoted sister, Janet Teman who all too recently also suffered the loss of her husband. What a blessing to have had the love and devotion of such a kind, devoted woman to aid in their passing. Bert put up a good fight and now may he rest in peace.
