Douglas Hawkins Obituary

74, of Denver, born in Dallas, Texas, attended the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee, graduated from S.M.U. and Harvard School of Business, P.M.D. An Officer in the U.S. Navy, he served aboard the destroyer USS Rogers. A specialist in rebuilding companies, Doug worked successfully with manufacturing plants throughout our country. Having a great passion for aviation, he was a multi-engine rated pilot as well as a member of A.O. P.A. and he flew for over 50 years. A long time member of the Young Presidents Organization and the World Presidents Organization, he often served as "Master of the Roast." With him when he died in his home on December 30, was loving companion Barbara Stine. He is survived by his son, Mark Hawkins of Phoenix, AZ; stepson Bradford White, Denver; and his sisters Glynda Conn of Dallas, TX and Sherrill Todd (husband The Rev. Dr. Newton Todd) of Richmond, VA. Also surviving are nieces Martha Cobb, Carolyn Cobb, Sherrill Todd Little, M.D. (husband Patrick Little), and nephew John Todd. A Memorial Service will be Friday, January 6, 2:00 p.m., Wheat Ridge Presbyterian Church, 9180 West 38th Ave. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Metro Denver, 501 S. Cherry St., Suite 700, Denver, CO 80246.
