Eugene Hixson Obituary

Eugene C. Hixson, Jr., born May 21st, 1928, passed away December 12th, 2007 at 6:17 p.m. at his home, after a lengthy illness. Gene was born to Eugene C. Hixson, Sr. and Ada (Peggy) Hixson in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from Forest Avenue High School May 31, 1946, where he was All-State in basketball, baseball, and football. Gene went on to play semi-pro baseball for the Washington Senators. He was drafted into the Army December 8, 1950. He was stationed at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX, where he was able to play baseball again at the request of the Colonel. He was honorably discharged October 22, 1956. Gene had a lengthy career in the oil and gas industry with Republic Natural Gas, Mobil Oil Company, The Superior Oil Company, and The Super Oil Company. Gene retired in 1992. He then started several business adventures, including a thriving ostrich farm in Van Alystine, TX. Gene is survived by wife Dotty M. Hixson of Dallas, TX, son Greg Hixson of Richardson, TX, granddaughters Jennifer Hixson and Nicole Hixson of Royse City, TX. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Eugene C. Hixson, Sr., mother Peggy Hixson, sister Louise Canipe, daughter Deborah Jean Hixson, son Don Paul Hixson, and grandson Jeremy Don Hixson. Visitation Sunday, 12/16/07 from 4-6 PM at the funeral home. Funeral service Monday, 12/17/07 at 2 PM, Grove Hill Funeral Home.
