Frederick Kirk Obituary

Kirk, Frederick
"Jerry"
Sept. 24, 1943 - Nov. 22, 2022

On November 22, 2022 surrounded by his loving family, Frederick "Jerry" Kirk, entered into eternal life. Awaiting him in Heaven with revelry and a glass of Jim Beam, his daughter Kathleen, his parents Frederick and Lucille, brother Ronald, brother-in-law Michael Howard, his mother-in-law Elizabeth Bright, and countless other friends and family.

Jerry was born September 24,1943 in Denver, Colorado. He was the second child of four and grew up in a large Irish American household. He loved to spend time at his grandparents' cabin in Pinecliffe, Colorado and work on cars with his friends in "The Mills of Denver" car club.

He met the love of his life, Susan Marie Bright, at age 16 through his sister, Barbara. They were married in 1964 and would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on Monday, November 28, 2022.

Jerry and Susan were blessed with four children: Christine (Gene) Russo, Kathleen Kirk (Deceased), William "Bill" (Wendi) Kirk, and Laura (Deva) Rosenberger. Eight Grandchildren: Emily Kirk, Alana Rosenberger, Brittany Kirk, Ryan Kirk, Mia Rosenberger, Sean Kirk, Theresa Russo, and Dominic Russo. He is also survived by his sister, Barbara Howard, brother Richard (Loretta), sister-in-law, Rosa Kirk, nieces, nephews, countless friends, and extended family.

Jerry devoted his life to his family, friends, work, and community. He was a member of the Colorado National Guard from 1964-1970. His career began with Western Electric in 1966 and continued through AT&T, where he retired after 30 years as Manager of the Denver Data Center. After retiring, he became Project Manager at IBM for another 10 years.

Jerry was a long-time member of the North Denver Knights of Columbus. He volunteered many hours at Comitis Crisis Center, Habitat for Humanity, AT&T Pioneers, Aurora Chamber of Commerce, Citizens Committees for Aurora Public Schools, and Queen of Peace Parish. He donated many gallons of blood over his lifetime.

Jerry was the consummate host. His capacity for friendship, generosity, and throwing a good party were unmatched. He made every person feel welcome, valued, and important.

No better man could be welcomed into the infinite and eternal. He was the epitome of a real man, loyal beyond question to his family, an example and inspiration to friends and strangers alike.

My condolences to all Jerry´s family on your sad loss. Our Kirk cousins have been in our thoughts for quite a while but unfortunately we didn´t find a way to make contact. Sadly Jerry´s passing has shown us a way. My grand aunt was Catherine Mulligan wife of Peter Kirk. They were also Jerry´s grandparents.
May Jerry and all Kirk family who have gone before him Rest in Peace.
I would love to make contact with Jerry´s family.

I have wonderful memories from visiting with Uncle Jerry and his family when we would drive from Illinois to Denver to see everybody there. He was always good natured, fun, and kind. I´ll miss Jerry very much.

Jerry and I grew up together as I lived across the street from the Kirks. I spent most of my time at their house. My love for cars was influenced by Jerry. In later years had little contact other than Christmas cards and ocasional dinners. He was a great example of genrerosity and kindness. He will be greatly missed.

We were all the children of the 'Loretto Heights Alumnae' who graduated in 1936-37 classes. Our parents, the Kirks/Walshes/Morrisons/Golds, remained great friends together during and after WWII and their children were the priority in their lives. Jerry worked for my father a while after high school and taught me to drive when I was 15yo! He was the 'big brother' then that I did not have (being the oldest in our family).

We are spread out now: John Edward in Denver, Ann Louise in Silverthorne and Ljubljana, Slovenija, Kathleen in Fruita and Greg in Pennsylvania and Englewood, Florida.
