Gary and I grew up together in Salida. I was known as Art Costello then. My name changed when I was adopted into the Mo'o clan in Hawai'i in 1992 and ordained a kahuna priest.

In Salida, we not only went to St. Joseph's Catholic School together, but like Tom Nacarrato below, we were altar boys together.

In retrospect, he and I were unique for our ages. Even as kids Gary knew he was meant to be a doctor and I knew I was born to be a priest.

Our relationship faded when Gary went on to Salida High School and I went to the Abbey School in Canon City to be a priest. I just didn't know then, that I was going to turn out to be a kahuna priest instead of a Benedictine monk.

I lost track of Gary after he went to medical school.
I tried to get in touch with him years ago, but for some reason I couldn't, so I had no idea he had died. What a shock to find this out!

It would not be an exaggeration to say we were best friends for years back then. I never had the chance to meet his family, but I do offer you all my most sincere condolences.

Aloha to all, Lono

To the Post family: I was sad to see the announcement of Gary's death; I was not aware of his illness. He was a classmate in the CU Med class of 1974 and a colleague in practice for the the past 27 years. I think it is particularly poignant that he was a doctor in the tradition of the previous generation ( i.e. , prior to managed care and depersonalization of the doctor-patient relationship ), as is spoken in the words of his patients. Truly a loss to the Community. WJ Bowman MD

To the Post Family,
When a loved one such as Gary goes home to be with the Lord, we who have shared various aspects of his life, may have physically lost a friend and a Physician, but we are able to carry his spirit in our hearts and reflect on his wonderful legacy.
There is no question that John 14:1-3 applied to our friend, for he is truly in the Father's house and now the beloved physician stands beside the Great Physician. Matthew 5:4 and all of my heartfelt condolences to the Post family, immediate and those who served alongside of him at Highlands Ranch Family Medicine.

Gary, We are not supposed to pass so soon. We grew up together. We played, fished, camped, rode our bikes, golfed, enjoyed family picnics and served as Alter Boys together. Although our lives went different ways and we lost touch with each other, I still carry fond memories of our youth.
May Heavenly Father comfort your family and greet you with open arms and say welcome home my son.

My deepest sympathy to Dr. Post's family and friends. Like others commenting here, Dr. Post was my doctor for over 20 years and he was the best. I didn't have to visit him often (thank God), but when I did I knew I was in the care of a smart, capable and personable professional. A terrible loss and he will be missed by so many. May he be cared for now as well as he cared for the rest of us.

I wish to extend my sympathy to Dr. Post's family. Gary has been my Dr. and friend since 1981. At that time we were both young and no matter what my illness was the conversation always drifted towards golf, which we did a couple of times together. I will miss him taking care of me as I age into an old man. I will continue to pray to our heavenly father to comfort the family.

I extend my deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Post. He was my family Dr. for over 20 years, I will miss him, he took good care of me and always had time to sit and talk with me in his office. There aren't too many of his kind that take the time to visit with patients like he did. I will miss you Doctor Gary and I know you are in a glorious place where there are no sick people. God rest your soul and rest in the peace and glory of our almighty savior Jesus Christ..
