To the entire Wafer Family,

My thoughts and prayers go out to you all. I wish I were there to give you all a hug. Although I knew this day would come, I was still so saddened to hear the news that George was gone. Please know that although I could not be there, I am still thinking about him. I do regret not making a point of seeing him when I was in Denver this past summer. George touched so many lives and as one of my father's closest friends and my sister's father-in-law, we have shared so many good times, great stories and special occasions. We will continue to remember him each and every day. Thinking of you Mike, Julie, Susan, Megan, Kelly and all the grandkids! Thank you for sharing such a wonderful human being with us all.

Susan, Megan and Kelly I just want to say I am so sorry I couldn't be at the funeral. I will never forget George, eveytime he would see me he would say "what's up kid". He was such a great human being and like many others I will miss him very much. J.R. Arnett

Susan, Megan and Kelley, I arrived too late to see George and left too early to go to the services. George would have said that was typical behavior for me. George was like a father and Susan like a mother and I love you all very much. Some of the best times I have ever has were with the Wafer family. I truly enjoyed my many and often enlightening conversations over Spam and coffee. Know that if ANY of you need me I will be there. I Love you and thank you for inviting me into your lives.

To Susan and the Wafer Family,
I never had the pleasure and privilege to meet George, but my son did and I am forever grateful. My son is Taylor Demulder, the "significant other" to George's grandaughter Katie Wafer. Over the almost 2 years that Katie and Taylor have been together, Taylor visited with "Grandpa George" everytime he was in Colorado. Each time he would return home, he would share what an impact George had on him. Amongst the many impressive thoughts he felt, the most significant to me (as a mother) was hearing him say, "Grandpa George is like the Grandfather figure I never had. He is everything a man is supposed to be and that is why Mike (Katie's father) is exactly the same way. I aspire to be the same quality men they are." Both of Taylor's grandfathers died before he was born. I feel blessed that my son met George and that he has experienced the beauty of the family he held so close to his heart. The ripple of his existence extends further than you will ever know. God bless you and your family....

Susan and Family,
I send my love and prayers to each and every one of you during these most difficult days ahead. We will certainly miss George and his visits here at the CTBA office. It was fun to listen to he and Ingrid talk about all the good old days at Centennial Race Track. I loved taking a bit of time out of a busy day and sit to visit with George, he always had some good stories to share. Everyone in the racing industry will miss George in their own way. If I can do anything to help you I am only a phone call away. With deepest sympathy, LarriLou Kallsen

George Wafer was one of those rare human beings who genuinely left a positive and lasting impression on all those who were fortunate enough to know him. He was a generous man with his bright intelligence and his exploring soul. He shared loyalty and laughter while ruling his own domain with a mighty yet gentle touch. He was full of mischief and humor, and you knew, when you were with George, that you were going to remember this day. There were many of those days around George....especially the days when we traveled to England and Ireland together to find his family roots as well as the thoroughbred roots he loved so much. I kissed the Blarney Stone with George holding my feet...he was the one to trust. I've been away from Denver for 20 years now, but like yesterday, he made my life and my family's life a lot richer....we will miss him very much. Here's hugs to you Susan,Megan,Kelley,Mike, and Julie..and all of your extended family. We loved George Wafer.

Susan, Megan, Kelley, Mike and Julie, as well as extended family. You are all in my prayers at this time and I pray that you and yours will lean on Heavenly Father now in your time of grief. I love you all and always will. The memories I have will sustain me all of my days. George was a mentor and big brother to me. He gave me some of the best years of my life, letting me do what I loved to do most, with the horses. He was loved by so many people and still will be. I've missed some of the deep conversations we used to have, but am rejoicing knowing I will see him again some day. Our time is not God's time so take some relief in knowing your grief is just but a short time in passing comapared to all eternity, where you all will be reunited some day. Remember George is a legacy that will live on in many, many people's memories. Just wanted to let you know, I love you all and if there is anything I can do , let me know. I love you, George.

To the Wafer family,
We regret not being able to attend the services, our thoughts are with you. We were incredibly impressed with the way in which George confronted his illness. Every time we saw him in the last four years, he exhibited courage and a lightheartness that was admirable. We will miss our long time friend. The Ciancio Family

My dearest Susan,Mike, Julie, Kelli and Megan. There are no words to take away the pain that you are feeling for the tremendous loss that you have sufferered.I wish that I could tell you that tomorrow will be better, but in all reality I know that is not true. There will be many rocky roads ahead for each of you any many hills to climb but remember you must take one day at a time.
I remember when I first met George and how intimidated I was by him, but in a matter of minutes I had him figured out, he was just a big teddy bear. George has taught me so much about life these past two and a half years he has taught me to never give up. He fought a courageous battle and he fought it until the very end.
I know that God has great plans for George in Heaven. I will miss his advice on the horses because there was not a better teacher than he. There will never be a better horsemen to walk this earth than George.
I know how heavy your hearts are, and how much you miss George already, but surround yourselves with family and friends that you have come to know and love. Lean on one another through this difficult time and know that George is in no more pain and he will watch over each of you with God in Heaven.
Susan you have been there for me in my darkest times and I couldn't think of a better friend than you.I will always be there for you. When you need someone to talk to you know Im just a phone call away. I love you very much. Susan Arnett

Dear Susie, Susan and Family,
As a long, longtime friend of Susie's, I got to know George as her sweet and thoughtful brother. Though we didn't get to see him very often after we all went our various ways, Susie always spoke so lovingly of him and his dear Susan and children, and we knew how thoughtful he always was of her. After reading so many of his guest book entrys, it is easy to see how loved he was by all.........He will be missed but not forgotten. Our sympathys to you all. Nancy and Dick Knowlton

Dear Wafer Family - I have such fond memories of George and his tremendous generosity. During my youth, he took me to many Bronco football games with Julie - and then gave me many exciting moments at the racetrack watching his thoroughbreds win. He was a great man and will be truly missed by all.

October 31, 2009

I first met George almost 60 years ago
and I was instantly envious of his good looks and positive attitude.

Tho we had some mutual friends, I never got to know him well, but knew he was one of my earliest role models. And I never heard a critical word or negative thought about him.

A class guy who I regarded as a solid citizen with strong family ties that along with his appearance and quiet ambition was way beyond my then teen-age imaginations.

We were same age, but South to East was literally miles apart.

I know what its like to lose the very closest family member, as I am the last of 5 boys and they have all gone on ahesd now....but I still have many great memories of them.

Just reading about George's passing nw adds to my vivid and fun 1950's memories.

I know that people come into your life, and will go out of your life... But no one tells us how to deal with that loss, with out pain...I can only send you some spiritual thoughts to help carry some of your huge sadness.

Best regards.......

Uncle George, I will miss you. Susan, Mike, Julie, Megan and Kelly, May the Lord sustain you and be gracious unto you during the days and months ahead. Do not lean unto your own understanding, but trust in the Lord and in HIS great salvation through Jesus the Messiah. For God so loved us, the world, that HE gave us Jesus Christ. I believe that George is in the loving hands of his maker, looking at Jesus face to face. Oh, what delight, that the struggle of his earthly flesh ended with the glorious gift of eternity with Divinity.
I love you Georgi - Lancer

Dear Wafer Family

I am so sorry to hear of George's passing. Susan & Mike, I remember you from when I lived on his ranch in Franktown and had the privilege of learning from George's experience and knowledge of horses that has stayed with me since.

My Dad and George had business dealings in real estate for several decades.

Know that George had an everlasting impact and touched the lives of many.

Blessings.

Those great old days at the "South Office" and "Georgie" with his "stories" told to Bud, Jess, Bill, Joey, John, Mike, and a few others. George's big smile, the twinkle in his eyes makes me smile now with a delightful memory.
