Harold E. "Bunky" Snider

Bunky Snider passed away April 2, 2015 in Phoenix, AZ. A memorial service will be held on the Beatitudes Campus, April 14, 2015 at 9:30 am in Phoenix. A Robinson, Illinois native he was the fifth child of Parmer and Cora Snider. He attended the University of Illinois and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in petroleum engineering. Bunky was a highly decorated WW II officer. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, among many decorations, for extraordinary achievement while participating in B-17 missions in the South Pacific. His B-17 was part of the squadron of the 19th Bomb Group that landed at Pearl Harbor the day of the Japanese invasion December 7, 1941. Following his return from the South Pacific he was stationed at the Casper, Wyoming airbase and met Dorothy Rae Speas. They were married on November 3, 1943. Following his discharge from the Army Air Corps he began his long career in the oil industry living in Casper and Denver, Colorado as a petroleum engineer for Forest Oil Corporation. Bunky was active in multiple civic and oil industry organizations in Casper and Denver. Bunky was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Rae, and his 5 Siblings. Survivors include Larry (Pat) Snider, Linda(Mike) Guetz, and Kent (Mary) Snider,6 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. The epitome of the "Greatest Generation," Bunky will be sadly missed.
