Jake Martinez Memoriam

Celebrating the Life of
Jake Erminio Martinez
February 6, 1947 - January 8, 2023
We are heartbroken to announce the death of Jake Erminio Martinez, who passed away in the St. Anthony North Hospital on the morning of the 8th of January 2024 at the age of 76.

Jake has been struggling with his health for many years but a heart attack in July of 2023 made matters worse. His health since then was up and down but ultimately declined, bringing us to his passing. Some of his last words mentioned was that
he had, "lived a good life."

Jake was born on February 6, 1947, to Quiteria and Frank Martinez in Denver, Colorado. After Jake graduated from high school in 1965, he enlisted in the Navy where his duties were to be an Aviation Electronics Technician on an aircraft
carrier during the Vietnam war. After being honorably discharged after 4 years of service where he received the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and National Defense Service Medal, Jake then went on to attend the University of Colorado in Boulder where he met his wife, Marie Ascension Montoya.

Jake and Marie had been married for 50 adventure filled years and went on to have two children, Patrick and Veronica Martinez, whom he enjoyed coaching in various sports and encouraged to face the world with strength and determination. Jake's two grandchildren, Aurelia and Eviana Martinez, lit up his world, and he adored them with all his heart.

In 2012, Jake retired from Xcel Energy after 43 years and spent much of his retirement woodworking and making crafts for his family to put a smile on their faces, building shelves and cabinets for his daughter's shop, going to Rockies games with his grandchildren, fishing, having back yard BBQ's, strolling with his dog Kona, and delighting his wife with his stubbornness.

Jake was predeceased by his siblings Lola, Lalia, Victoria, and Joe. Jake is survived by his two sisters; Theresa and Loretta, and his wife, Ascension, son, Patrick, daughter Veronica, and two grandchildren; Aurelia and Eviana whom he loved dearly.

We will all miss this strong and caring human being whom we called dad, brother, uncle, friend, husband, and grandpa.

There will be a private ceremony for close family members where he will be honored by military guard for his time in the Navy and by his family.
