James Ballard Obituary

Devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, Colorado native, born salesman and philanthropist, son of Richard and Cyrilla Ballard passed away January 3, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's at the age of 76. Jim attended East High School and Colorado State University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. He met Kitsie, his beloved wife of 50 years while serving in the Army as a Private First Class. Jim enjoyed a 34 year career with 3M Company working as a Senior Account Representative in the Hardware Division. He won many rewards trips before retiring in 1996. Jim was also very active and especially proud of his work with the Phi Delts at Colorado State, establishing a yearly scholarship in his name. Additionally he was an active member of the El Jebel Shrine where he enjoyed the fellowship and the philanthropic work the Shriners do. Jim is survived by his wife Kitsie, his daughters Cy (Marty) Zack, Cincinnati, OH and Cindy (David) Tucker, his grandchildren Caraline and Charlie Zack and Sam and Kate Tucker and his brother John Ballard, Los Altos Hills, CA. Donations can be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, C/O El Jebel Shrine, 4625 W. 50th Ave., Denver, CO 80212 or to Alzheimer's Association Denver Chapter, 455 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203. A visitation for friends and family will be held Monday, January 7 from 3-6 at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Rd., Centennial. A funeral celebration of Jim's life will be held Tuesday, January 8 at 10 am at Christ Church Episcopal, 2950 S. University Blvd., Denver. View full obituary at www.HoranCares.com

Mrs. Ballard, Cy and Cindy, my heartfelt condolences to all of you. While it is comforting to know he is at peace and no longer suffering, those who knew and loved him are suffering and grieving. I remember his enthusiasm and spirit at many CSU football games and Theta events. Prayers are with all of you during this difficult time.
