James Bruskotter Obituary


BRUSKOTTER, James William Bruskotter, 92, a longtime resident of Denver, passed away October 28, 2008. Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Rosemary Mertz, and eldest son, Bill Bruskotter. Survived by his three children, Tom (Jackie), Pam (Jeff) Melton, and Don (Gaylene), six grandchildren, Erik, Kurt, Courtney, James, Stephen, Zach, and five great-grandchildren. James received degrees from St. Joseph's in Rensselaer, IN, University of Tulsa, and Stanford University. Employed by Marathon Oil Company his entire career, he was instrumental in starting and developing their Research Center in Littleton, Co and retired in 1981 as associate research director. James was active in support of the Church of the Risen Christ, Valley Country Club, the Air Force Academy, President's Council of both the University of Tulsa and Regis University, Mile High United Way, and the YMCA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Samaritan House and Church of the Risen Christ. Funeral Mass to be held Monday, November 3rd at 10AM at Church of the Risen Christ, 3060 South Monaco Blvd.

We had no idea until our holiday card got returned. We were so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. He was a gentleman in every sense of the word. We loved having him and Rosemary as our neighbors, and we were blessed to be able to call them our friends. We loved them and will miss them dearly.

Your dad has held a spot in our hearts for years. Since Fred got to know him working on the VCC renovation, we became very close.
