James Huemoeller Obituary

Huemoeller, James Louis, James Louis Huemoeller passed away on October 9 in Denver, CO.
Born in Fairmont, MN on February 11, 1951 to Donald "Barney" and Betty Huemoeller. He was a graduate of Truman High School in 1969. Following productive stints at Emory University and St. Cloud State, he worked in Jackson Hole, WY where he met his wife Kay Huemoeller, whom he married in Grand Teton National Park on July 24, 1976. James finally graduated from George Washington University in 1974 and received his law degree from the University of Wyoming in 1979 where he has been a proud supporter of the Cowboy Joe Club since.
James was an honest and hardworking lawyer in both Wyoming and Colorado. He worked for several local and national firms over the years, most recently at Riley, Carlock and Applewhite, retiring in 2009.
More importantly he was a dedicated husband, father, brother, and friend. Nothing will be missed more by his family than those days he dragged them to bluegrass concerts in the pouring rain, the galleries of Santa Fe, or whatever college football game happened to be playing.
He was proceeded in death by parents Donald "Barney" and Betty and survived by his wife Kay, his children James and Kelley, that dog Jackson, his brother Bryce (Kathy) Huemoeller of Prior Lake, MN, and his sisters Mary Alice (Michael) Huemoeller Sellett of Jackson, WY and Louise (Mike) DeLand of Jackson, WY.
All memorials in his honor will be given to the University of Wyoming Law School. A celebration of his life will occur on Saturday, October 15 at 2:00 at the family's home.

I had the pleasure of attending law school with Jim and had some professional dealings afterward. He was a good man and is a loss to the world way too early. Chris Wicker (Reno, NV)

I was so sorry to hear about Jim. He was my writing partner in law school, so we spent many hours banging out a brief on a manual typewriter. He was a gentle soul, with a fun wit. I know he treasured his family. Kay was always at his side and was one of the gang. The family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Jim was truly one of the good guys out there. Fun to ski, hike, ride or party with. He was a warehouse of information about college football, and a variety of other things and one of the hardest working and smartest lawyers around. A great guy with a wonderful family. He will be missed big time...

Jim was a very skilled and highly ethical lawyer who was held in esteem by the members of the Colorado bankruptcy bar. He also brought a great sense of humor to the sometimes daunting tasks at hand. Please convey my condolences to his family and to his many friends.
