Jerome Jacobs Obituary

Jerry Jacobs saw Casablanca from a boat on Christmas morning in 1943, took pictures of exotic temples in Calcutta, and petted a fellow GI's pet tiger in Kunming, China while helping to build a wartime airbase there. For the next 50 years, Jerry flew a 48-star flag on July 4, to remember the warmth and support of the Chinese who made it by hand. Born in Minneapolis, Jerry moved to Denver in 1931. He was the son of Anthony and Agnes Jacobs, a pioneering family of the St. Vincent de Paul parish. Following the war he graduated from Regis College. He was a draftsman at University Park Lumber and Gates Forming Systems for four decades. Jerry is survived by his wife and special friend, Vivien. They were just shy of their 68th wedding anniversary. He is survived by daughter Cecilia James (Odell Murry); son James (Michelle Fulcher); grandchildren Lenore Jacobs, Christopher James (Jessica), Anthony James, Benjamin Jacobs and Jonathan James and two great-grandchildren. Private burial took place at Fort Logan and a Ceremony of Life will take place in the fall.

Ceci, James and family=
Mr. Jacobs, as I always knew him by, was such an interesting man. He "put up" with the little Italian girl from North Denver and even helped Ceci and I with a science project in high school. He had such a history that I wish now I would have paid more attention to. I know he will be missed by "his boys" as he was truly a good grandfater. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers

To our dear Grandpere,
Your warm and loving spirit will not be forgotten. I have been blessed to be a part of your family that loves you so much. I will never forget the way you kissed my tummy when I was 9 months pregnant with Tom and the way you laughed when you held him at 1 week old! Until we see each other again, I'll keep these memories close to my heart.

I will always remember my dad's brother, Uncle Jerry, as my funny uncle that always had a good joke to tell. As a child going to Denver every few years was always made enjoyable by the FUN we would have at Jerry and Viv's house. Jerry was fun to be around and will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. Rest in Peace uncle Jerry and say hi to my dad, uncle Tony and Grams and Pop. Love you!

My uncle was a character! We loved his jokes, his warmth, his smile that turned into a chuckle/laugh. He was my dad's brother. We loved every opportunity to visit as kids; and later came on our own as adults. Thank you, Uncle Jerry for your wonderful joy for life, acceptance, and well - for being YOU. I will always remember you for your kind spirit.
