I taught along with John at CMU and always enjoyed working with him. He got me started playing with German Bands and helped me sub for various bands through the years. As a fellow trumpet player, he was such a good friend and an honest one on any subject we talked about. John and Fran were good friends during the years I taught in Cherry Creek. I will always remember John.

John was a special guy quiet but always friendly with me. Whenever he would play in Arizona I made it a point to go and see him and spend a few minutes with him. Very sorry for your loss.

Dear Fran and family,
First and foremost, I render my deepest condolences for your loss. I'm a pianist/keyboardist and music educator, who has performed actively in the Denver area, for quite some time. Though, I didn't work with John on a regular basis, I remember him well. I first had the pleasure of working with John, about 10 years ago. He filled-in (and did a SPECTACULAR job) with the Mood Express band, of which I was a member at the time. Our paths crossed on some other gigs, as well--always a nice "surprise"!
In addition to my condolences to John's family, I signed this guest book because it's an excellent example which yet again proves, what people tend to remember the most about someone, when he/she leaves this plane of existence is, not his/her material wealth (ya' can't take it with ya'), or civic minded generousity or even countless acts of heroism, epic in proportion. While it's always a noble gesture to share with those less fortunate, and to save lives, etc. etc., unless the aforementioned had a direct impact, we tend to remember the manner in which people treated us, more than anything.
The opportunity to perform with and learn from a "first rate" trumpeter and musician, goes without saying. I ALSO remember, how MUCH I truly appreciated John's support and encouragement, because it motivated and inspired me to want to work harder to improve and further my understanding! While I don't know this first hand, it's my guess, he was an EXCELLENT band teacher who inspired a LOT of kids much in the same manner!

Fran,
Our prayers are with you. John was one of my favorite people. He was a great friend during the Rolling Along Show when we traveled the world. I enjoyed our trips to Las Vegas and his staying in touch all these years. I will truly miss him. God bless..

Dear Fran and family,
I,too, was saddened to learn of John's passing. We played several jobs together on the Jay Wieder band several years ago. I absolutely loved his cornet work on the Queen City Jazz Band for all those years. He was truly one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

Dear Fran and Family,
I'm so saddened to hear of John's passing and want you to know that I'll keep all of you in my prayers and thoughts. John has touched me by his tremendous warmth and caring heart.
He is one of my favorite trumpet players and truly had the smoothest and roundest tone that I've ever heard.
What a sincere joy to have known my dear friend, John.
All my love and support to all of you,
Sal Mancini

I knew Mr. Bartmann from his son Chad, we were very good friends, and Mr. Bartmann was always extremely polite and made you feel like he had known you for years. At least now he and Chad can cut up together again.

I pray for Fran and his other son and for the entire family.
