John Cox Obituary

COX, JOHN F., SR. ("SR") John F. Cox., Sr. ("SR"), U.S.M.C. Major (ret.), Northglenn, CO, 81, died July 15, 2003 due to complications of heart disease. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anne (Lt., U.S. Navy) ret. Survivors include two sons John F. Cox., Jr and Stanley E. Cox, both of Thornton, CO; daughter-in-law Kerry Hetfield-Cox; and grandsons Brady Jacob Cox and Anthony Martino, also of Thornton, CO. Mr. Cox was a retired United Airlines flight operations instructor at the Denver, CO flight school. He was employed with UAL for over 25 years with numerous awards for outstanding service. He instructed students with flight systems of the Douglas DC6, DC7, DC10, and Boeing 727, 737 and 747 aircraft. Mr. Cox was a retired U.S.M.C. Major with 22 years of service. He participated in WWII as a carrier based fighter pilot flying F4U Corsairs. He was assigned duty on CV13 USS Franklin (later sunk by Japanese Kamikaze aircraft, March 19, 1945). He again served in the Korean war as a ground support fighter pilot flying F4U Corsairs. Memorial service Monday, July 21, 2 p.m., Northglenn Christian Church, 1800 E. 105th Place. Private burial at Ft. Logan National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Adams County Northglenn Library. "Semper Fi" Dad.
