Nancy Patton Obituary
Patton, Nancy Pope
November 1930 - February 2022
Nancy Pope Patton passed away in late February 2022 at the age of 91. She was the youngest of Blanche Pope's five children, raised in Chanute, Kansas. She would know hardship at an early age, with her father leaving the family and then losing a sister while still in grade school. Her mother worked tirelessly, providing a loving, stable home, strong faith and instilling the importance of a good education. After completing Junior College, Nancy attended Kansas State University and was a proud member of the Chi Omega sorority. She left K State to work for Shell Oil, Kansas City, then to Dallas where she was a stewardess for Braniff Airlines. K State was where she met her husband Don on a blind date. They were married in August of 1954.
Nancy and Don raised their three daughters, Kim, Tama and Shelley in Colorado, primarily in the metro Denver area, alway expanding their family by acquiring numerous pets throughout their lives, from hamsters to horses. Nancy was happiest when involved with family activities, including Girl Scouts, every daughter's annual birthday slumber parties, holiday road trips to Kansas family reunions, school plays, recitals and fundraisers. These activities only increased once her granddaughters, Katie and Courtney were born.
Nancy built a wonderful circle of friends throughout her life, staying in contact through birthday cards, Christmas cards, and get well wishes that continued as she mastered email with help from her granddaughters. Her address book was filled with names from grade school, college, bridge clubs, charities, church groups and a special family of friends that she and Don were blessed to know through his many years working at Pepsi Cola Bottling Company in Denver, who remained close to Nancy after Don's passing in 2010.
Nancy had many interests that kept her busy, including mystery novels, jigsaw puzzles, classic movies, thunderstorms and travel with her husband, daughters, granddaughters
and friends. We will miss Nancy's inquiring mind, her sense of humor, positive attitude, her beautiful warm smile and her sparking blue eyes. She had a deep love for her family, her friends, her country, accentuated by her unshakable faith in God.
