In thinking of NGHS, you can't help yourself but to think of Mr. Nunnery. You also need not look far to see all the lives and paths he crossed and touched. Such a wonderful and compassionate man with such a rare ability to touch lives in the way that he has.
My deepest sympathy to Bubba, Kim, and your family.

Hi...want to make sure folks are aware of the memorial details - please share far and wide:

A memorial service followed by a celebration of Bob’s life will be held at El Jebel Shrine, 4625 W. 50th Avenue, Denver, CO on Saturday, January 29th, at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Bob Nunnery Memorial Scholarship Fund at Chase Bank.

This scholarship fund will provide support towards higher education to high school seniors with financial need who have demonstrated an involvement in activities that assist and improve the lives of others and have shown exceptional leadership despite adverse socioeconomic conditions.

Currently there are two options for making a contribution:

1) Walk into any Chase Bank and make a donation to the Bob Nunnery Memorial Scholarship Fund. IMPORTANT- it is an Ohio account (they will need to know this to locate the account).

2) Send a check to:

Bob Nunnery Memorial Scholarship Fund

My condolences go out to the Nunnery family. I have only now found out about Coach Nunnery’s passing. I also was privileged to play football under Coach Nunnery in the early 1970's. We were the first class to attend Northglenn HS for 10th - 12th grades. Coach Nunnery took a buddy of mine and I under his wing and looked out for us over the summers we knew him. We helped him move several times and were always welcomed at his home. He always would have some form of competition going with us on fishing trips or whatever. Bob Nunnery is a large part of what made the NGHS football teams great and guided us into who we are today. My heart goes out his family in their time of great loss.

Bubba and Kim - I was shocked and sadden to hear about the passing away of your Dad. Your Dad was a down to earth person, a mentor for many students at NGHS and had a positive impact on many lives. Your Dad was an amazing and wonderful person. I have many memories of your Dad, not only at NGHS but at your home and on some fishing trips with Don S., Lou C. Kenny C., etc. Bubba and Kim, if you both just remember the good times with your Dad, they will last you a lifetime. Thoughts and Prayers are with you guys.... Chris Woodman "Woody"

Dear Kathy, The coming days will be very difficult as you try to somehow continue your life, separated from Bob - Your little dogs will miss him also, as they were always on his lap in his big chair when we enjoyed the annual Super Bowl parties at your house - and seeing Kim at the parties at times as well. Unfortunatley, we didn't know Bubba, but may you all be given God's comfort in the lively memories of Bob and his life. He DID know how to make the room light up!! In time . . . Time heals.

Dear Nunnery family,

I was blessed to have had Mr. Nunnery for Health class and saw him a lot in the halls. As an alumnus (NGHS '77) I'll remember him for his fairness, his willingness to assist any student anytime, and his wit. He was a great guy. I am so sorry, and our family's prayers are with you.

To write, to tell, to share, what an influence or an impact a person has made on this world, but more importantly to those he has touched - the hearts that bear the weight of his loss - the true meaning of an icon is forever carried on in the celebration of his memory...

To the Nunnery family - my sincere hopes in your peace at this time - Bob will never be forgotten, and you will always be in my prayers -

Sorry to hear this. With him at our school, no way would any of the violence and stuff that happens in schools today have ever stood a chance of happening. We were always safe. He kept a sharp eye on everyone and gave us schoolkids the gift of his wise service which I'm sure at times was not easy to do. Thank you Mr. Nunnery for all you did.

My thoughts and prayers are with the Nunnery family. I had the pleasure to play under Coach Nunnery and then later teach at NGHS where Bob was the Dean of Students. He was one of a kind for sure! He got the absolute most out of his players making fierce warriors. As a dean, I have spoke many times with others about Bob. Our education system would be profoundly better if every school had a Bob Nunnery. No doubt in my mind! Here's to you Coach!!!

Final chapters are never easy. But the Nunnery family can always carry with them the solemn pride of the legacy that 'Mr. Nunnery' left behind. He touched so many in his teaching and coaching years. I will always remember how good he was to our family; especially to my late brother Eugene (Jake)'73. Few of us realized it then, but Mr. Nunnery wasn't just coaching us as players. Moreso, he taught us to be better sons, husbands, and fathers. To work hard and strive to be our best will always be my foremost memory of Mr. Nunnery. Very grateful and honored to have known him. Mr. Nunnery, I will never ever forget you or the impact you had on the students and athletes whose lives you touched. You were a very special man and taught us all the true meaning of being a "Norseman"! I have many memories of you but foremost in my mind is that after every football game I sought you out on the field and you always put me in that big bear hug of yours and threw me up in the air with pure excitement after each win! You were my hero and I will miss you dearly. My condolences to your family. Mary Schoonmaker Hearn

My experience with Coach Nunnery went beyond my years at NGHS. I talked with him many times at the airport. Now, I knew he didn't remember me from school days but he was so funny acting like he did. His legend will continue while all of us share our memories of him. God has received a wonderful human being. God knows, without him many of us would not be the people we are today. Joining the large number of NGHS alumni in saying that Mr. Nunnery was a huge, positive impact in our lives.
It was alot of fun listening to his stories and walking away with a laugh and finding the moral to the story.
If I could, I would click my heels, cross my fingers and wish that our kids would have a Mr. Nunnery in their lives.
Comfort and prayers to the Nunnery family.

Bubba and Kim, my deepest condolences during this time... I know that your Dad is going to continue watching over each and everyone of us, who's lives he touched. You both will hopefully always be able to find comfort in knowing, that not only was he a wonderful dad and always so proud...but that he guided so many others who didn't have that in there lives, to believe in themselves when all they wanted to do was quit. My love to you both always.

We are postponing any services until after the holidays. More details to follow, but the tentative plan is to host a memorial for our dad late in January. When we nail down an exact date and venue, the information will be spread far and wide.

Additionally, in lieu of flowers, we will be setting up a scholarship fund in my father’s name.

Please help us spread the word.
