Robert Shelton

1932 - 2018

Robert L. "Bob" Shelton, Major USAF (Ret.), 85, of Aurora, passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1932 in Des Moines, IA, and raised in Des Moines and Denver, he married Edith White of St. Louis in 1956 and together had three children: Mark (1958), Richard (1959) and Eric (1966 deceased). Bob graduated Manual HS in 1950 and attended Drake University. In 1953 he joined the USAF and served 20 years as a pilot of fighter and transport aircraft. He later joined the FAA and retired as the Manager of the Denver Office. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife, outdoors sports with his sons and friends, and was an active member of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. Robert is survived by his sons, Mark (Kathleen) Shelton, and Richard Shelton, his grandchildren, Felicia and Roberto Shelton, his brother, Lloyd C. (Jean) Shelton, his nieces and nephews; Arzania Williams, Jr., Karlya Shelton Benjamin, Kyle Shelton, and Stephanie Williams Furgerson, and his devoted Godchildren Kimberly (Colby) Potts, Kennette Jackson, and Mikel-Claire Penick. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Barbara Jean Williams. A burial with full military honors will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 10:30AM, 3698 S Sheridan Blvd. Denver, CO 80236, followed by a Memorial Reception at 12:30PM at Horan & McConaty HeartLight Center, 11150 E.
