Russ and Margaret have been an inspiring thread in my and my children's lives over the past 30 years. Working for Wehner Property Management was a wonderful opportunity. When my kids were little and I brought them along to drop something off at the office, Russ would come out to talk with them and invite them into his office to get a treat from the treat drawer in his desk.
I was always impressed by his consistant courtsey and caring. His love and respect for Margaret and his family was always evident.
He leaves the legacy of not only his career and a lovely family but also of all the lives he touched.

Russ was a good friend and mentor to me in the real estate field. For years he sent me a "silly" birthday card. He and Margaret were both very good friends.

Russ was such an inspiration. I am so thankful to have known him and very grateful for the impact he had on me, my children, and the community. We are all better humans for knowing a man like Russ. My kids are so very fortunate to be Margaret’s and his grandchildren, and part of the amazing Wehner family. It was an honor to know him. His incredible smile, compassion and heart live on in all of us.

My father, Oliver M. Bush, worked for your father, Russ Wehner, after the war. Oliver worked through the office in East Denver, then managed the office in North Denver. Oliver died of cancer in 1952. Your dad knew of the illness, and helped him through those tough last years. Fast forward--1996--I was a member of the Lakewood city council, when your dad made a presentation. You can imagine how surprised I was to see him!! We talked briefly after the meeting. Next day, a lovely bouquet of flowers arrived at my mother's house, from Russ. She was very pleased, and delighted to have heard from him after all those years. I'd say--quite the gentleman.

My mom(Sabrina) has worked for him for almost two decades. I'm from Florida and didn't even meet them until I'd become an adult but let me tell you... one of the first things I did solo with her was meeting Russ. Though my own anxiety gives me faint memories of him.... the impact he had on my family has been tremendous. He is everything we should all inspire to be. As he is in God's grace now... my prayers are to his family and every single person that mourns for him. Knowing that each person he made into a better person also spread that specialness... he impacted the world and the world itself will miss him. Almost bittersweet. Walk with Jesus as you always have. I'm sure the conversations are spirited, Russ. Be at peace.

We will really miss Russ, a gentleman always and most generous close neighbor. In latter years, we were impressed by his almost always having his ski equipment ready to roll on top of his car. ( In act he was the realtor who also sold us our home of 26 years). Early on during property improvement and house renovations, I relied on him for his advice from on his long list reliable contractors and of " who to call for what". Somewhat later, I was honored that he started calling me for my advice on who "who to call" particularly on latter technologies, like solar installations or house jacking. My wife and I were honored to attend Russ and Margaret's grand 50th wedding anniversary. We also enjoyed all those Palisade peaches he and Margaret delivered as gifts every year at prime ripening time. He also promoted the annual "block party " often hosting but if not, seeing that others got in on the act. Departed but living on in Memory.

Although I did not know Russ well at all, I had the opportunity to meet with him, and his wife Margaret, a few times. No surprise, we were discussing real estate! Along with recognizing his keen knowledge of the field, what I recognized most of all was his humanity; his genuine kindness. I remember thinking...this is a guy who truly knows what matters most! I appreciated reading his obituary which is a testament to his exemplary life. My deepest sympathy to all who will surely miss this fine man.

As a new Realtor in 1989, I was fortunate to have taken classes taught by Russ early in my career. I immediately recognized and appreciated not only his skills, intelligence and competency, but his integrity, his willingness to share and give back to his profession. His high-mindedness, kindness, passion for education, and commitment to doing the right thing has continued to inspire me ever since.

Russ became my friend and counselor over fifty years ago, when I first joined the Denver Board of Realtors in about 1971. And what a wonderful friend and role model he was, and continued to be. I left for New York in 1990, but he stayed in our lives--managing property, offering guidance and friendship to me and my family. I am so grateful to both Margaret and Robert for their ongoing involvement in our lives and their close relationship with my own wonderful daughter, Andrea. He was an extraordinary gift to the Real Estate Industry, to Denver, and to me.
