Gayle (for Roz Molden) Bishop
July 8, 2006
This message is being written for the late Roz Molden and for Sam's children I was a good friend of hers for many years and was her guest at the ReOpening of The Fort several years ago. Sam was one of her favorite people and she was always proud to let folks know she was his first kitchen and bar manager when the family actually resided at times in the living quarters there. She was delighted to have been such a confident of the two of you in the early years. Your dad provided Roz and me with a weekend stay at the condo in Santa Fe back in 1988. Perhaps the two of them might meet up with each other in whatever dimension their spirits are floating by now. She would be writing to you herself with her condolences if she were still here.

Sam and Carrie were my refugee sponsors to come to America. Sam helped me learn and live in the U.S. culture. I am very grateful to have met this great and generous man in my life.

Roy and I had the pleasure to meet Sam through him managers of the Fort Restaurant - Carlos and Beatriz Molina. He hosted a dinner for them on the receiving their citizenship. He entertained us with the bottle opening abilities and his wonderful stories. He was a true gentleman and admired by many people. He will be missed.
