Sharon Carter

Sharon Anne Fallon O'Meara Carter, 70, died peacefully surrounded by her family on January 11, 2017. Survived by her two children, Darren and Fallon Carter; her sister, Marilyn O'Meara Benedict; her two brothers, Brian and Stephen O'Meara; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Luches; and her granddog Mattie. Her husband Raymond L Carter preceded her in death on July 13, 2010. Born June 24, 1946, in Denver, Colorado. She was the daughter of Betty and Al O'Meara Jr. of O'Meara Ford Center. Sharon graduated from Christ The King Catholic School, St. Mary's Academy, and attended both Colorado University and Denver University. Prior to her marriage to Van Dorn in 1965, Sharon was a model for J.F Images. After her marriage to Raymond Carter in 1972, she moved to southwest Colorado for nearly 25 years until returning home to Denver in 1995. Sharon had many hobbies and interests. In 1977 she and her mother Betty O'Meara founded Maison des Maisons, selling fine art in miniature. Sharon was a gourmet chef, she made jewelry, enjoyed horseback riding, dancing and playing cards with friends. She was an accomplished couture seamstress, having a passion for beautiful fabrics, buttons, and trims. Sharon actively contributed to the communities where she lived. She was amazing at fundraising and instrumental in starting the Southwest Safehouse in Durango. She served on the foundation of both Adams State University and Ft. Lewis College. She was both a Boy Scout and a Girl Scout Leader. Both Sharon and her mother Betty served as members of the Board of Directors for The Denver Museum of Miniatures. Memorial service, Monday, February 13 at 2pm at Wellshire Inn at 3333 S. Colorado Blvd. Denver, CO 80222.
