Peggy, I feel sad and heartbroken just finding out about Steve's death. We first met in 7th grade band class. He wanted to be a drummer and I wanted to be a sax player. Tapping his drum sticks he purposely taped one of the finger tabs of my saxophone and popped out the mother of pearl button. For years afterward he always referred to that day saying I gave him a look of anger and thought I was going to grab his sticks and break them in half . Fortunately after getting to know him we became close friends throughout Junior High and High School. That continued into the 90's as he would organize each year the Gonzo Ski Team. We would meet up in Alta, Utah for a reunion and wild skiing. Sadly that ended for me in the 2000s and I lost contact. I am so sorry to find out about his passing. I can't believe it. I always thought we would live forever back in our youth. You will always be in my memories dear friend.

Dr. Nichalson was my Dr. He was such a nice man and he always gave me a lollipop. I was never afraid to go to the Dr. because he was my Dr. and he always made me feel comfortable. He always explained things to me in a way that a child could comprehend. I think now, how my interactions with him as a child shaped my positive attitude when seeing a physician as an adult. Thanks Dr. Nichalson... xxx - Jenessa Conner

Steve was the finest physician I ever knew. He was the "brightest person in the room", very compassionate, fair, hard working, an inspiration and a joy to be with. He and I practiced together for seventeen years: a wonderful period in my life. An incredible human being.

To Dr. Nichalson's Family and Staff,
It wasn't until very recently that I learned about the passing of Dr. Nichalson. Dr. Nichalson was a great doctor and he was very kind to my kids the times he treated them at the clinic. I am so sorry for your loss. My family and I send our deepest condolenses and prayers for healing.

To Dr. Nichalson's Family and Staff,
I was looking to take my son back to him today as he is transitioning from the Pediatric Clinic to the Adult Clinic and I knew I wanted Dr. Nichalson look at him for my son has such deep respect for him and TRUSTS him above all as I do! As I googled to get the phone number to call his obituary came up and I thought to myself, "No, this isn't the same Stephen Nicholson until I saw his picture which was when I just went into tears knowing that this man that was loved by many many people had left this earth and I would not see his kind Presence on this earth ever again. He was one of the best Doctors out there and his kindness and care you could feel in your heart and you only get that from a small few in this world. I know that he is in Heaven with our Heavenly Father and we all will see him again when we reach that ourselves. But until then.....May God Bless all his family, staff, and all who knew him for he has left us with heavy hearts that I doubt will never fully mend.

Was looking for information for my daughter last night as our granddaughter was running a fever after shots. Was absolutely shocked to see this news on the website for the office! Dr. Nichalson was a great doctor to both my son and daughter who are both grown adults now. What a huge hole he will leave in many hearts. My prayers and condolences to his family and staff.

My heart was sadden today upon hearing of Dr. Nichalson's passing. He was such an amazing physician and important part of our lives and our daughters lives. He reminded us that our medically fragile daughter not only needed incredible care but also a life she would look back on and know she had lived. He contributed to her thriving in her life today. He was available when needed and not only provided excellent care but encouraged us even when we couldn't see the end of the tunnel. He will be missed. We have been blessed to have him in our lives. Our love goes out to his family. Praying for the blessing of peace.

Steve. As I sit here reading through all of the messages written before this one I find myself nodding and agreeing with each one. I am in awe by the number of lives you touched other than my own. You had a gift of making each of us feel adored, special, cared for. You made us laugh. You took each of us on as family. My heart aches in your absence and truly celebrates the fact that I had the honor and privilege to learn from you, work with you, ride bikes with you, & shine in your presence. Thank you for reminding me what a genuinely happy, caring, loving human being looks like. You are deeply mised

My family and I learned today of Dr. Nichalson's passing. Truly a sad day for us. Dr. Nichalson was there for us when our son Ronan (11) was ill. We could feel the compassion that he had for our son. We felt that he was treating not just the symptom/condition but the whole person. He had a warm and reassuring presence and we valued that very much. Our sincerest condolences to his family and colleagues.

Dr. Nichalson was indeed a true and special gift! We adopted our son, Ricky, in 2001 and met with Dr. Nichalson prior to our Ricky's birth. We knew, immediately, that Dr. Nichalson was the pediatrician we wanted caring for our Ricky! My deepest and most heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends! Thank you for sharing the gift of your husband, father, and friend with, not only us, but so many families! God Bless!!

We are so sad to hear of Dr. Nichalson's passing. He was my children's first pediatrician until we moved to Atlanta in 2010. He and the crew at Academy Park Pediatrics made the move more difficult because we knew we would miss them so much. He was such a kind and caring man. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends.

We just learned of Dr Nichalson's passing and are heartbroken. Our deepest condolences to his family, friends, and the Academy Park Pediatrics staff. When our oldest daughter was born prematurely, and we hadn't yet chosen a pediatrician, the staff at Rose Medical Center recommended him to us. What a godsend, especially because our second daughter was born prematurely as well. He was always kind, compassionate, and loving to our girls. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. The Sladovnik family

I just learned of Dr. Nichalson's passing today. I am completely heartbroken. I first met Dr. Nichalson over 22 years ago when I had my first son. My husband and I hadn't done our homework and had not found a pediatrician before we delivered our son. When the doctors at Rose asked us where we lived, they, without hesitation, suggested Dr. Nichalson. Three years later, our son Christian was born with a severe heart defect. Dr. Nichalson became a vital part of our son's health care as well as a part of our family. I think Christian made Dr. Nichalson a little nervous because those first six months or so of his life, he would send me to Children's every time I brought him in for a fever, rash, etc. It got to the point where (this was our little joke) I would call my husband and tell him I had my bag packed and was taking Christian in to see Dr. Nichalson. :) I saw Dr. Nichalson nearly every week of the three years my son was alive. When my son died in 1999, Dr. Nichalson and his staff came to Christian's funeral. I cannot tell you how much that meant to me. Afterwards, he set aside private time for me to come in and talk about my son's death, or if I had to bring in one of my other kids, he would have me brought back to a room immediately-he knew how hard it was to come back into the office those first few months. I literally went through a grieving period for Drs. Nicahlson and Arvsten because they had become such a part of my family and now I didn't need to come in every week. In all, Dr. Nichalson was a pediatrician for all five of my kids, until our insurance changed. He was a fantastic doctor, loved and respected by so many.
I am so so sorry for your loss. You all will be in my thoughts and prayers forever.
We all loved you Dr. Nichalson-Scott, Sarah, Corey, Christian, Reese, Seth and Lauren Hagan

I have been so heavy hearted since hearing this news. Steve gave me my first practice position with Academy Park Pediatrics almost 20 years ago exactly. Although I have since moved back to Indiana, I treasure those years. I have realized how many of his hilarious stories have stuck in my mind (especially the way he would tell them) and I have often repeated them to others who laugh at them too even though they never knew him. I find myself using things he taught me and ways of explaining things to patients every day and this past week has made me so aware of how much I owe him. Thank you for everything my friend, and look forward to laughing with you again down the road.

Steve was my dearest friend for many years. We laughed and cried together and shared all our growing up secrets. He truly was a exceptional person. He cared very deeply about others, was kind and generous. Had a wonderful sense of humor. I am better for having known him. He never criticized and always helped you do everything better. I loved him dearly. He left far too soon. My heart and warmest wishes go out to Peggy and his boys and to Bobbin, his beloved sister.

Wow, I am deeply saddened by the passing of Dr. Nichalson. The doctors at Academy Park took care of my 4 kids from the day they were born and now they are caring for my 3 grandchildren.

I knew Steve (primarily) via social gatherings organized by women that includes Peggy and Bobbin. I always enjoyed talking with Steve. He was warm, caring and interesting. Most enjoyable was his gentle, sometimes self-deprecating, sense of humor. I am sure all of these qualities were experienced by his patients. Each year, my daughter ranked annual Christmas letters that contained summaries of the previous years events. Steve's letter, written on behalf of the Nichalson family, was always ranked number one! People are remembered by the content of their character and Steve had an abundance of character. He will be missed but never forgotten. The Shea family (Ingrid, Kathleen, David and me) extend our sincerest condolences.

So sad to see this. As a brand new mom of premature twins I was recommended to Dr. Nicholson through Swedish Medical where our girls were born. He was simply the best!! One of our daughters has several medical issues and when I would call he always answered and knew just what to do. We are heartbroken. To his staff as well as his family I am sure you are feeling this way more but please know how loved he was and what a tremendous impact he had on all of us who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dr. Nichalson was my doctor from the year I was born until I was too old to go there. Now in my 30's, I still remember his office being a fun place to go. I remember him being kind and gentle, and how upset I was when we finally had to switch. He's definitely part of my childhood memories. The world has lost one of the good ones!

We are heartbroken to hear this news. Dr. Nichalson is the reason we chose Academy Park as our pediatrician office. Our daughter was one of the first patients at the HR location. As new, nervous parents, Dr. Nichalson's warm, reassuring and calm demeanor was exactly what we needed. Our daughter will now be 9 yrs old and we will miss seeing him at her well visits. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and the Academy Park Pediatrics staff.

Long ago when Steve was a medical student, I had the honor of being his faculty advisor. From the beginning, it was clear that he would be an outstanding pediatrician. Whenever I saw him over the years, he continued to be the same compassionate, dedicated, clear-headed, kind person that he was in his twenties. The memories are all positive and I deeply mourn his loss.

My heart is broken - Steve was one of my favorite people. I got to call him boss for 18 years ! Steve and I were the best of friends from elementary school through college. We worked together in the early 70s for a summer on a construction crew at the Eisenhower tunnel. I believe I was Steve's first patient. I sustained an injury during a 7th grade PE class. Steve correctly diagnosed my problem and recommended that I upgrade my athletic supporter.
Our family looked forward to the annual Nichalson Christmas letter with clever humor that would make Dave Barry and Bill Bryson envious.
My sincere condolences go out to Peggy, Bobbin, and the Nichalson family.

Steven was the first drummer I ever played with. This was around 1964 I think. Right about when the Beatles broke out. That day in our basement in Littleton inspired way more than he could possibly have imagined. For both my brother Don and I. He was a really good drummer at that age already. I'm not sure if he kept at it or not but that day had a lot to do with my entire life in the music business. Amazing!
Thanks Steven!

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Dr. Nichalson. Our family had the pleasure of having him as our pediatrician for many years. My two sons loved him and we were all saddened when we had to leave his practice due to insurance changes (Kaiser). Dr. Nichalson was always a pleasure to work with and we learned so very much from him as he guided us through child rearing, well checks and several medical issues that our son's endured. May he rest in peace and we pray that soon, great memories shared with him will bring comfort and peace to his family, co-workers and friends.
