Robert Simmons, Jr Obituary

Robert Lee Simmons, Jr., 69, of La Marque died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Mainland Medical Center, Texas City. Born in Broken Bow, Okla. on March 28, 1941, Lee, as he was known by many, is survived by his wife of 46 years, Donna Ruth Simmons; his only son, Robert Simmons and wife Bernice of St. Paul, Texas and their daughters Theresa, Melanye, and Meredith; his sister Cathi Valentine and husband Larry of Yukon, Okla. Lee served in the United States Air Force and had a B. A. in Fine Arts. Lee worked for American National Insurance Co. and United Space Alliance. Lee's passion was flying. He was a flight instructor (CFII) with over 7000 hours experience.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas, 401 Texas Avenue, La Marque, Texas. Burial with service and military honors will be in Merryville, La., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 2 p.m.
Condolences may be sent to James Crowder Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Lee's name to M. D. Anderson Cancer Center of Houston, Texas.
