Alice Leavitt Obituary

Alice Trone Leavitt 1923 ~ 2008 SALT LAKE CITY- Our dear mother, Alice Trone Leavitt, 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. Alice was born November 15, 1923, to Guy Raymond Trone and Mabel Hochstrasser Trone of Hoytsville and Coalville, Utah. She was raised in Coalville and graduated from North Summit High School. She married Edwin Dean Leavitt of Provo, Utah, December 23, 1941, just as her husband was entering the U.S. Army. They settled in Provo after the War and raised five children. Since her husband's death, Alice has been a resident of the Orem and Salt Lake City areas. Alice was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various teaching callings. After Dean's death Alice managed his furniture store until it was sold. She also worked at ZCMI, as well as serving as a volunteer "grandma" for disabled children at the Hartvigsen School. Alice always kept a beautiful home and yard during her life. She loved homemaking, flower gardening, cooking, sewing, listening to music, bowling, golfing, butterflies--and most of all she loved and lived for her dancing-- especially in the latter part of her life. Alice was preceded in death by her twin sister, Aleen, at the age of three, by five other sisters, and by five brothers, as well as her husband, Dean. She is survived by two brothers: Raymond (Darlene) Trone of Portland, Oregon; and Kenneth (Colleen) Trone of Salt Lake City; and by her five children: Richard (Elvira) Leavitt of West Valley City; Terry Leavitt of Sandy; Aleen (Eldon) Riding of St. George; Don (Adele) Leavitt of Alpine; and Tony Leavitt of Provo; as well as many nieces and nephews. Alice also has 15 grandchildren: Rob Riding, Tanya Parkins, Shannon Johns, Tami Harper, Annette Fuller, Adam Leavitt, Dean Leavitt, Brett Riding, Steve Leavitt, Sara Leavitt, Wayne Leavitt, Kristy Price, James Leavitt, LauraDawn Leavitt, and Daniel Leavitt, as well as 14 great-grandchildren. Special thanks is expressed to all the care givers who have helped our mother these last few years, and especially to those at Crosslands Healthcare Center and with Sunbrook Hospice. Funeral services will be held Mon., Oct. 13, at 11 a.m. at Lake Hills Memorial Chapel, 10055 S. State St., Sandy, Utah. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Interment at East Lawn Memorial Hills, 4800 N. 650 E., Provo, Utah.
