Anna McKean Obituary

Anna Roper McKean "Anna Banana" 1916 ~ 2006 Anna McKean, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2006. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her but she will be lovingly remembered. Anna was born on June 11, 1916 in Salt Lake City to William and Alice Roper. She married Kenneth McKean on January 26, 1935 and together they raised seven children. He preceded her in death on August 1, 2000. Anna was an exceptionally wonderful person and will be remembered for her strength, her courage and her example during very difficult times. She was a devoted wife and mother and had a special love for all the children in her life. She enjoyed many successful years selling real estate but her pride and joy was her family. She and Ken spent many happy years bowling with their friends, fishing in the mountains, taking an occasional trip to Wendover or visiting their children out of state. Anna had many hobbies and talents and enjoyed oil painting, bridge and camping. She was also well-known for the amazing meals and wonderful homemade bread she prepared for her family and friends. Anna will be especially missed by her children, Ken (Betty) McKean (Anchorage, Alaska); Robert (Sandy) McKean (Salt Lake); Cathy (Roger) Brown (Eagle, Idaho); Shirley (John) Durham (Salt Lake); Marge (Jerry) Shepherd (Denver, Colorado); Jan (Michael) Shea (Scottsdale, Arizona); 16 grandchildren, 28 great-grand-children, two great-great-grand-children and one brother, George Roper. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beautiful daughter Carole and two infant sons. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Highland Care Center for their kind and conscientious care. We appreciate their never-ending love and compassion. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 1975 S. 2300 East in Salt Lake City, where friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Committal, Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th. Ave and 'T' St. Funeral directors, Neil O'Donnell & Sons.
