Arthur Leo Obituary

Arthur Troseth Leo "Poppy" 1/14/1938 ~ 10/6/2008 Art Leo passed away peacefully in Bullhead City, Arizona, with his wife, Kay, and his son, Steve, by his side. He will be deeply missed.Art was born to Albert Leo and Josephine Pagano on January 14, 1938. He was raised in Helper, Utah, where everyone knew him as "Trossie." He loved Carbon County and always felt it was his home. He graduated from the University of Utah where he developed his avid love for the Runnin' Utes. In 1961, he married Nataleen Albo and they had five wonderful children. He later married Elaine Kay Curran, and they spent the last 26 years of his life together. They moved to Bullhead City, Arizona, in 1991, where he established a successful counseling business and hit more than his fair share of royal flushes at the casinos across the river. Early in his career, Art worked for the Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation. He later worked in sales, and even ran his own lumberyard business. But his passion was always helping people, and he spent the last three decades of his life counseling patients with alcohol and substance abuse problems. He was always willing to help others, and he spent many seasons coaching his kids' sports teams and lending a hand to those in need. More than anything else, Art will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor. He was always the life of the party, whether he was telling stories and jokes, playing his guitar, or just sharing his love for life. Art is survived by his wife, Kay; his siblings, Alberta Liapis, Catherine Mueller, David Leo, Albert Leo, Robert Leo, and Kenny Leo; his five children, Steve (Tammy), Diane Kirkpatrick, Dave (Mindy), Jane Fullmer (Brett), and Jenny Tovar (Luigi); step-children Cory Curran and Sabrina Maxwell; 17 grandchildren, who affectionately called him "Poppy;" and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson, Nathan; and his brother-in-law, Pete Liapis. A memorial service will be held at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Arrangements are pending. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Art's memory.

Art and I became friends when we both worked for Kaibab Forest Ind. We worked out of a little office and he kept us laughing. When we went on picnics as a family , he insisted that we call him "Duke".
Miss ya Duke.

I don't know if they have internet where you are, but I just wanted to say "WHAT YOU NAME!!?!?!" Miss you and love you, and it still doesn't feel like you're truly gone. Love always, your favorite niece. (I always loved when you told me that, but then realized you were saying that to all of your nieces!!)

Dearest Leo Family,

I'm very sorry.

Art was a unique, warm and thoughtful man. He made me laugh a lot and he was always sweet, kind and caring.

I found out about his passing about 2 weeks ago and he is still on my mind. All of my thoughts and prayers are to you and your extended families. His kids were his life and from what I remember?, he always loved to be surrounded by them.

That's what really makes a good father.

All of my love to you and I hope that his loss will get easier for all of you in the future.

My truly deepest regrets,

Dear Leo Family,
Our hearts and prayers are with you in your sorrow. The Garden Streets kids remember all the fun times playing ball on the street, and sitting on the porches in the early evening.

Steve, Diane, Dave, Jen and Jane,
My prayers go out to all of you and your father. Your Dad helped me so much by giving me a place to stay when I had no place to go back in Fullerton. I will never forget your fathers compassion and understanding. Your Mother and Father did such a great job in raising some of the best friends I have ever had.

Dear Leo Family,
What fun we all had on Garden Street. Trossie always had a smile for us and some fun up his sleeve. I'm so sorry for your loss. You were so lucky to have such a fun dad.

Art Was a very good frilend and I will always remember the fun times we had while we worked at the Kiwanis-Felt Boys Club. He gave me my first job in Salt Lake and followed him as the youth director of Kiwanis-Felt. I loved the guy.

Dear Natty, Dave, Steve, Diane, Jenny and Jane,
I was very saddned and shocked when I received Dave's e-mail this morning on the Memorial Mass.
My heart aches for each one of you!!!!
Having lost my Father-my genuine words are those of empathy! There is no way to prepare for the loss and emptiness you are feeling. Please know that my prayers are with you, knowing that one day reflecting on your wonderful memories will bring a smile rather than a tear! Knowing that he will be with you ALWAYS in your heart and soul!!
A guardian angel to watch over each one of you!!
I can just see it now~Art and John "up above" having a toast and sharing stories...I can hear their laughter now!
God rest his soul!
Love,
Bridge
