Brian Condie Obituary

10/4/1975 ~ 11/7/2012
We've lost our best man. Brian Alan Condie passed peacefully away on Nov. 7, 2012 at home. It was the end of a long battle against cancer that he met with courage, humor and fortitude.
Brian was born in Salt Lake City on Oct. 4, 1975 to Shelly Ence Condie & Alan Skidmore Condie, a long awaited red haired baby. He went to Highland High School where despite being built as a traditional football player he was a well loved cheerleader. Twice. He was an Eagle Scout and could still build a mean campfire a month before he died.
Brian served a mission to Croatia from 1994-1996. He loved the people of Croatia dearly, and they him. His renewed contact with several of them, as well as former mission companions through the internet, was a source of happiness for him. He loved Croatia, and ever after considered himself one of them and was offended if you questioned that fact.
He went to the University of Utah and while fulfilling the requirements for dental school he managed to take Ballroom Dance three times. He could dance better than anybody, and loved to dance with his wife and girls. Brian was a member of the Sigma Gamma Chi fraternity, the Phi chapter. He met his wife Elisha through mutual friends and after an almost immediate click they were married on August 13, 1998 in the Salt Lake Temple. Daughters Caroline & Eleanor were the lights of his life and he loved to be with them, whether they were going to superhero movies or making up a song & dance for the scrambled eggs they made for breakfast.
Brian attended the University of Michigan Dental School and graduated in 2005. He loved his time in Michigan and was happy in his profession. He will be missed by his work colleagues and patients who knew he could give a shot that you hardly even noticed getting. Brian was also an instructor at the Dental Hygiene School at Salt Lake Community College and had a great time being a popular instructor there.
Brian was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the temple, as a popular nursery leader, and most recently as a Sunday School teacher to the 12 & 13 year olds. He loved them and they him. No one who ever had Brian as a teacher could forget him.
Brian Condie will be remembered for so many things: his joy that just made people around him happy, humor that was always spot-on, his amazing impersonation of a velociraptor, his prowess on the dance floor, his nerdy-game-loving soul, his talent for writing, his talent as an artist, and his unfailing kindness.
Brian is survived by his wife, Elisha Buhler Condie, daughters Caroline and Eleanor, parents Shelly & Alan Condie, and Terrie & Milan Buhler, siblings MaryAnn Condie, Allison (Andy) Louthain, Elizabeth (Nick) Brough, Greg (Annalisa) Condie, Emily Buhler, and Alexi (Aleko) Campos, as well as his amazing extended family and a whole lot of friends. He will be missed every single day.
Brian's funeral will be held Wednesday, November 14th at the North Holladay Stake Center, 4395 Albright Dr (2145 E), in Salt Lake City at 11:00 a.m. Viewing will be held on Tuesday, November 13th 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the North Holladay Stake Center. A viewing just prior to funeral will be from 9:30 to 10:30am. Brian asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made to his family. Donations can be made to this fund called "Cash that Cares" at any Chase Bank, or through a website set up for donations for his family at www.biggnomebenfit.blogspot.com

I was so sad to hear about Brian's passing. I didn't know him very well, but knew of him. I served in the same mission at the same time, but was across the boarder in Serbia. We knew Elder Condie as the Elder full of life and love for everyone. His faithful and fun-filled efforts in Croatia, went beyond boarders. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. The veil is thin and Elder Condie's mission with his family is eternal. He may claim to be a Croat at heart, but his eternal mission will always going to be with you and your family!

I was so sorry to hear of Brian's passing, yet glad he is no longer suffering. He faced his illness with such humor and grace. The world lost such a great, fun-loving, sweet guy but heaven gained such an amazing person and spirit. I'm sure he will gain many more friends that will love him for the fun-loving person he is there as well. My prayers are with his cute wife and kids and his other family members. He will be missed. I'm just glad I had the opportunity to get to know him at Highland.

Big Red: Thank you for helping me refine my Historian skills while in PHI.
Thank you for showing me how to "shade in" with the coarse side of the pencil on my drawings in 3rd grade, and for showing me the dragons and otherworldly beasts you drew in a moment's notice. You are an awesome artist!
Thank you for being a great warrior in all you endured, and for inspiring me to be tough!
And most of all, thank you for making me laugh and sharing your light.
Rest well brother, next time we meet will be epic.

For the last three days as I've reflected on my years in Phi and the time I spent with Brian and the rest of the Phi guys, a phrase keeps coming to mind: "I seek true brotherhood. " And the response, "you shall find it here." He was the epitome of true brotherhood. I was there in the beginning of Elisha and Brian's journey together. I've never seen a couple laugh more together. They were perfect for each other then, and have been every day since. You and your sweet girls are in our prayers. God bless.

Brian was an amazing son of God! He was such a fun person, with a great attitude, and wonderful sense of humor. His famous sense of humor, will forever be remembered by all who had the privilege to meet him. I know his humor will continue to live on, from the stories of those who were blessed to witness this great gift. God speed Brian, 'til we meet again! Much love and prayers sent to the Condie family!!

Brian was a Man, not a myth, and truely a Legend! I've never met anyone with as much charisma, wit, and humor and somehow able to maintain it in the face of adversity. I will never forget the times we had together on the mission and on the XBOX. Very few could hang with the "Dread Tooth Worm"!
