To the Spencer Family. I just heard over the weekend about your loss. I used to work at the State Office Building and interacted with Risk Management quite a bit. Brian always had a smile on his face and was so genuine and kind. I know you will miss him dearly. I know his co-workers will miss him too. I hope your wonderful family memories will sustain you during this difficult time. Make him proud of you and always remember that the LOVE NEVER ENDS.

Brian and Janel oepned their home to 20 young women traveling from Gardnerville to participate in LDS General Conference last April. They fed us, housed us, laughed with us. We had a great time! The girls still talk about it! We will miss Brian. Our love and prayers are with you.

Such an unexpected and untimely challenge for you and your family. I don't know if you even remember me but I felt a need to express my condolences to you and to assure you that God will hold your hand as you move through the days ahead. You will experience much sorrow but will also be aware of special blessings from Heavenly Father. I lost my husband nearly 15 years ago and I know this is true. May you be blessed with the peace and love of our Savior as you embark on this path.

Dear Spencer Family,

I am so impressed with your faith and endurance during this very, very difficult time. I am so grateful that our families are connected and that I know that families are forever. I did not get to interact with Brian very often, but whenever I did, I was always very impressed with how nice he was. He has raised a good set of children and has left a legacy of love that everyone who knew him will carry on.

God bless you.

Dear Spencer family, I worked with Brian for years at Risk Management. We talked for hours on dutch oven and and life. I helped at our retreats with setting up the ovens and learning from the master. He inspired me in many ways as a human being and how to live life. I will always look at Brian as a friend and example. My families prayers and thoughts are with you.
Sincerely, Jeff and Kristin Rose

Our deepest sympathy to the Spencer family. May the Lord be with you at this time. All of you were always an example of Gospel living for us. We will miss Brian, he was a great, friendly guy and always there to lend us a helping hand many a time. I remember observing Brian as an accounting professional, at the library studying for long periods the tax codes as they were updated each year. I'm sure he wanted to maximize his skills and talents to serve the people he worked with as well as provide for his family. Service was what Brian was all about. I remember when he was in the bishopric in Gardnerville. I thanked him after he conducted my daughter's baptismal service. He replied with a sincerity I will never forget that it was a pleasure and that he would always be willing to help with whatever he can. When it was time for the Spencer family to move on to Utah, I mentioned to Brian that I hoped we would meet again. He told me he would be very surprised if that didn't happen. He was right. I had the pleasure of meeting him again a few more times here in Utah, as a state employee. Brian, I love you and hope to meet once again with you someday. We will always remember you. Love from the Castro family, formerly of Gardnerville.

Bro. Spencer was always ready and willing to serve. He and Janel were in charge of the food at our stake trek and the meals were superb. I have had the opportunity to work with Bro. Spencer in church callings and he was always dedicated and reliable. It has been a privilege to have known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Janel and the children.

Janel and Family -
You will not be forgotten. We are so sorry for your loss. How grateful we are for the knowledge that you will be united with Brian one day. Hang on to that thought and live as he would want you to live. Brian left you too soon, but left you with so many great examples of how to live. Follow his example and keep his memory alive. We love you.

I wish to share my condolences to Janel and family of my friend and fellow Scouting Associate Brian Spencer. Brian was a faithful and diligent Scouter. He lived and exemplified the Scout Oath and Law rather than just recite them. He will be missed by many and has blessed the lives of many more. Janel and family, I am so saddened with the loss of Brian. He was such a fun, crazy energetic cousin growing up. Lots of crazy memories!! I enjoyed his gentle, polite, kind manner that he conducted himself as he grew up. As adults we have had some nice talks and he was always concerned about how I was doing! Please know I am praying for you to find comfort in this difficult time. I love you. HUGS

I have mentioned to Brian on more than one occasion how much I have looked up to him and the example he and his family set for me and my family. I have had the great blessing to have served with Brian in numerous capacities and I have admired him and his family for their Christ-like examples. Thank you Brian, for the things you have taught us. You will be missed.
Janel, you and your wonderful family continue to be in our hearts and prayers.

I knew Brian professionally, and I am honored to have known him. I asked him for a favor to help me interpret and analyze some results in a spreadsheet, and he, being in another Department, and under no obligation to help me at all, took the time to come to my office and help me. I was so amazed at his good, friendly, caring attitude, and his willingness to put his needs aside to help me. He is extremely intelligent, but so very kind and considerate. I will really miss him and I hope his family can be comforted.

Our hearts go out to sweet Janel and her wonderful family. Brian did so much to help with the Scouting program, he was a master at dutch oven deliciousness, he kept our neighborhood looking beautiful throughout the year and he was the go-to guy for any Gospel question imaginable. His knowledge was so vast, yet he was such a humble and approachable person who had the perfect witty comment or joke for any situation. We're so grateful for his influence and example and feel blessed that our lives crossed paths with his.

Brian Spencer....a very sweet, caring man! I have wonderful memories of Brian during the years he lived in Nevada! My 2 daughters were a big part of the Spencer household because Janel was their babysitter or should I say.....2nd mom, until they went to school. Brian always treated my children with love and a caring heart! He was so kind to them! We all love Brian and the entire Spencer family. I know our lives are richer because we had the chance to know Brian Spencer. Our love and prayers go out to his wonderful family.

Brian probably never new this; but, he was one of my most favorite Youth Leaders back in Gardnerville, NV. I know we must have made his life miserable at times...but, blessed be his name for the selfless service and sacrifice he gave to a bunch of kids looking to find their way in life. Your life lessons will live forever in me, and helped to shape me into the father and husband I am today. Thank You Brian...God Bless You and your grieving family.
